CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />STANDARD SPECIFICATION NUMBER 2 <br /> <br />General Requirements <br /> <br />SECTION 1. DEFINITIONS. <br /> <br /> Whenever the word "City" is used in thc specifications, it refers to the City of Santa <br /> Aha, California. Whenever the word "Contractor" is used, it refers to the party or parties <br /> of the second part in the agreement for the construction of the work herein sI~ecified. <br /> Whenever the words "Engineer" or "Superintendent of Streets" are used, they refer <br /> respectively to the City Engineer or the Superintendent of Streets, or both, of the City <br /> of Santa Aha, or their authorized agents or inspectors. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. WORX AND PLANS. <br /> The work to be done under these specifications shall include the furnishing of all labor, <br /> material and equipment necessary for or appurtenant to the construction and completion of <br /> all work herein specified, in accordance with the plans, profiles and other drawings on file <br /> in the office of the City Engineer, and in accordance with the Ordinance therefor. All <br /> work shall, during its progress, and on its completion, conform to lines, elevations and <br /> grades shown on said plans, profiles and other drawings. The work shall be done in a <br /> thorough worlananllke manner. <br /> Copies of the plans, profiles, other drawings and specifications, furnished by the City <br /> Engineer, shall be kept upon the work, and access thereto shall at all times be accorded <br /> to the City Engineer or Superintendent of Streets. <br /> <br />~ shall not deviate from the plans and specifications in any ~ <br /> without ~en~'i~a~i/~..~ the Superintendent of Streets. Anythin~ed in <br /> <br /> both. <br /> <br /> in either, the <br /> <br />In case of special provisions for work not covered in the standard specifications, the <br />clauses covering the requirements for such provisions or work, and attached hereto <br />or to the proposal form, shall take precedence over any other requirements con- <br />tained in the standard specifications with which such clauses may conflict. . <br /> <br />SECTION 4. EXAMINATION OF GROUND. <br /> Bidders must examine and judge for themselves as to the location of the proposed <br /> work, the nature of the excavation to be made, and the work to be done. <br /> The plans, profiles and other drawings for the work will show conditions as they are <br /> supposed or believed by the City Engineer to exist; but it is not intended or to be inferred <br /> that the conditions as shown thereon constitute a representation by the City, or its officers, <br /> that such conditions are actually existent, nor shall the City nor any of its officers be llable <br /> for any loss sustained by the Contractor as a result of any variance between conditions <br /> as shown on the plans, profiles and other drawings, and the actual co~!ditions revealed <br /> during progress of the work or otherwise. <br /> <br />SECTION $. SETTING STAKES. <br /> The Contractor shall give twenty-four (24) hours notice in writing when he will require <br /> the services of the City Engineer for laying out any portion of the work, and shall dig all <br /> <br /> <br />
