CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA STANDARD SPECIFICATION NUMBER 2 General Requirements SECTION 1. DEFINITIONS. Whenever the word "City" is used in thc specifications, it refers to the City of Santa Aha, California. Whenever the word "Contractor" is used, it refers to the party or parties of the second part in the agreement for the construction of the work herein sI~ecified. Whenever the words "Engineer" or "Superintendent of Streets" are used, they refer respectively to the City Engineer or the Superintendent of Streets, or both, of the City of Santa Aha, or their authorized agents or inspectors. SECTION 2. WORX AND PLANS. The work to be done under these specifications shall include the furnishing of all labor, material and equipment necessary for or appurtenant to the construction and completion of all work herein specified, in accordance with the plans, profiles and other drawings on file in the office of the City Engineer, and in accordance with the Ordinance therefor. All work shall, during its progress, and on its completion, conform to lines, elevations and grades shown on said plans, profiles and other drawings. The work shall be done in a thorough worlananllke manner. Copies of the plans, profiles, other drawings and specifications, furnished by the City Engineer, shall be kept upon the work, and access thereto shall at all times be accorded to the City Engineer or Superintendent of Streets. ~ shall not deviate from the plans and specifications in any ~ without ~en~'i~a~i/~..~ the Superintendent of Streets. SECTION 4. EXAMINATION OF GROUND. Bidders must examine and judge for themselves as to the location of the proposed work, the nature of the excavation to be made, and the work to be done. The plans, profiles and other drawings for the work will show conditions as they are supposed or believed by the City Engineer to exist; but it is not intended or to be inferred that the conditions as shown thereon constitute a representation by the City, or its officers, that such conditions are actually existent, nor shall the City nor any of its officers be llable for any loss sustained by the Contractor as a result of any variance between conditions as shown on the plans, profiles and other drawings, and the actual co~!ditions revealed during progress of the work or otherwise. SECTION $. SETTING STAKES. The Contractor shall give twenty-four (24) hours notice in writing when he will require the services of the City Engineer for laying out any portion of the work, and shall dig all
