RESOLUTION NO. 2365 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the present a~m~nistration of the Board of Trustees of the City of <br />Santa ~a has consistently and without ~ffecting the efficiency of the administration of <br />local municipal affairs, cut all expenditures for municipal purposes to the bone, and <br />has reduced the salaries of municipal employees very materially, and eliminated <br />municipal employees where possible, consistent with good business Judgment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all of the above actions on the part of the members of the Board of <br />Trustees of the City of Santa Aha has been with the one thought in mind, to lessen the <br />burden upon the tax-payer; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the members of the Board of Trustees of the <br />City of Santa Ana that the present administration has lessened the burden upon the <br />tax-payers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the citizens of our connnunity, in order to maintain existence and <br />carry on business, are compelled to patronize three public utilities operating in our <br />City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the service furnished by these utilities consist of gas~ electricity <br />and telephones; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the said public utilities are subject to orders from the State <br />Railroad Commission concerning the operation and control of said public utilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the sense of the Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana <br />that reductions in rates to the consumers using said public utilities have not been made <br />in keeping with the business conditions existing at this time; and <br /> <br /> WWEREAS, in an effort to further lessen the burden of taxes levied upon the <br />tax-payers: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of the City of Santa <br />Ana petition the Railroad Commission of the Stateof California to call a hearing for th <br />purpose of reducing the rates existing in this City on the following public utilities, <br />to-wit: Southern California Edison Company, Southern Counties Gas Company, and the <br />Southern California Telephone Company. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper officers of the Board of Trustees be <br />authorized to take the necessary steps as required by law to have a hearing before the <br />Railroad Commis~on upon the matters contained herein. <br /> <br /> I HEREBE CERTIFY the foregoing to be a full, true and correct copy of Resoluti <br />No. 2368, introduced and adopted at a regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of <br />the City of Santa Aha, held on the 31st day of July, 1933, by the following vote: <br /> <br /> AYES, TRUSTEES: A.F.LeGaye, E.G.Warner, Paul B.
