122 <br /> <br />Ordinanoe No.598. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance Regulating Street Work by "Private <br />Oontrsct" within the City of Santa Ana, requdrfng permit and <br />Bond for the faithful perforn~ance of ~rk and fixing a penalty <br />or penalties for violation thereof. <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO, 598 <br /> <br />directly or indirectly that may be had <br /> <br /> The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Aha do <br /> ordain as follows:- <br /> <br /> Section 1. It shall he unlawful for any p~rson, <br /> firm or corporation to engage in or undertake the building or <br /> laying or construction of any sow9r, curb~ sidewalk, crossirg, <br /> intersection or the paving or repaving of any street, lane, <br /> avenue,court, crossing or intersection upon or w~thin any of <br /> the streets, avenues, alleys, lanes or other thoroughfares <br /> within the corporate limits of t~e City of Santa Aha,, which <br /> are now or may hereinafter be dedicated to the public uss of <br /> said City, unless such person, firm or ~orporat~on shall first <br /> have obtained a pern~it by itself or aggnt from the Superinten- <br /> dent of Streets of ~aid City. <br /> <br /> Section S. Before any person, firm or corpora£ <br /> tion shall be entitled to apply for and obtain a permit for any <br /> of the purposes set forth in the preceding sections it shall <br /> be the duty of said person, firm or corporation to file with <br /> the City Clerk a bond the amount to be fixed by the Board of <br /> Trusteos with good and sufficient sureties conditdonsd that the <br /> bounden he or they: <br /> <br /> (a) Will in all respects conforr~ to the specifications <br /> and requirements of the Ordinances of said City now in force <br /> or that may hereafter be adopted by said City as to kind, <br /> quality, proportion and manner of laying, erecting or construct- <br /> ing said paving, curbs, walks,,crossings, sewers or'intersec- <br /> tions in each and every particular pertaining thereto as there- <br /> in made and provided. <br /> <br /> (b) Will place or construct sufficient safeguards or <br />protection at all times about ~he work so being constructed as <br />to warn and protect the travelling public from injury by reason <br />of excavations or embankments or other obstructions that may <br />have been placed or left remaining about said work so being or <br />having been constructed and shall at all times indemnify the <br /> <br />~aid City from any da~es directly or indirectly that may be had <br />against said City by reason of any obstruction so placed. <br /> <br /> (c) Will pay or cause to be paid to said City the sum of <br />forty cents per hour to compensate the payment of an inspector <br />by said City in case said City should believe it advisable to <br />employ an inspector to supervise said work. <br /> <br /> (d) That the said bond shall in no case be less than $~0.O0 <br />and not in excess of $8000.00, the amount to be fixed under the <br /> <br /> <br />
