124 <br /> <br />ORDINA~C~ NO. 599. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 599 <br /> <br /> An Ordinance Providing for the Safety of the <br />Companies of the City of Santa Aha, in making their runs to <br />Fires in various parts of the City and regulating traffic on <br />the streets at the time said run or runs is being made, and <br />governing the supervision of the district adjacent to the fire <br />and providing penalty and penalties for the enforcement of the <br /> <br /> The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana do <br /> <br /> ordain as follows:- <br /> <br /> Sectionl. It shall be unlawful for any person or <br /> <br /> persons, firm or corporation having the control of any vehic~ <br /> or any conveyance of any kind or nature whatsoever to wilfully <br /> or negligently or carelessly to permit the same to obstruct or <br /> delay or endanger tho progrsss of any fir~ truck or apparatus <br /> of the fire department or any conveyance that may be used by <br /> any m~mber of the fire department in going to a fire when sa~ <br /> fire truck or apparatus or conveyance carrying a member of the <br /> fire department shall be going to a fire in the City of Santa <br /> Ana. <br /> <br /> Section 2. All fire trucks or apparatus of the fire <br /> department or conveyance or conveyances conveying any member <br /> of the fire department when going to a fire in the City of <br /> <br />Santa Aha, shall have the paramount right of way over the streets, <br />avenues, lanes, alleys and highways of said City and all other <br />vehicles or conveyances of each and every nature and kind whatso- <br />ever,(excepting street cars), upon the sounding of a gong or <br />other signal that may be used by the fire company upon the <br />approach of any such fire truck or fire apparatus or any convey- <br />ance carrying any fireman, shall at once come to a stand or park <br />adjacent to ~he curb iu such a position or place so as to in no <br />manner obstruct or endanger the free passage of such fire truck <br />or t~acks or apparatus or conveyances of firemen and so to remain <br />until the same shall have fully passed. <br /> <br />Section ~ All street cars or any and all railroad cars or <br />en$ nes that may be in the vicinity of any fire truck or appara- <br />tus or any conveyance of any fireman shall at all times acceler~e <br />or retard their speed or remain standing as shall least obstruct <br />the way and progress of such fire truck or apparatus or conveyance <br />of firemen when running to a fire. <br /> <br /> Section ~. Whenever the Chief or acting Chief of the <br /> <br />fire department or police shall deem it necessary at a fire he or <br />they may place ropes or guards across all streets, lanes or alleys <br />on which shall be situated any building on fire and at such other <br />points a~ he o~ they may deem it necessary and they may prevent <br />any andall persons e~cept owners and occupants and employees of <br /> <br /> <br />
