attached to them by this section, unless it is apparent from the contents that they are used <br />with another meaning. <br /> <br /> The work "approved" whenever used in this ordinance shall be held and construed to <br />mean and include the approval of the City Electrician unless otherwise specified. <br /> <br /> The work "apparatus, whenever used in this ordinance, shall be held and construed tc <br />mean any electrical wiring, appliances, apparatus, or electrical construction of any kind <br />whatsoever, installed or used in or about any buildings, structure or tent in the City of <br />Santa Ans. <br /> <br /> The word "theater" when used in this ordinance shall be held and construed to mean <br />a room, h~ll or auditorium, habing a stage, either with or without scenery, used or designed <br />to be used for public entertainments of persons, and adapted~ to the presentation of plays, <br />operas, concerts, spectacles or similar forms of entertainment. <br /> <br /> The word "City Electrician" as used in this ordinance shall include his deputies. <br /> <br /> The term "show window" as used in this ordinance, shall be construed to mean that <br />space or enclosure of a shop window, which space or enclosure is used for the display of <br />merchandise. <br /> <br />Section 19. <br />Fees. <br /> <br /> That the City Electrician of the City of Santa Ana shall charge and collect from the <br />person, firm or corporation to whom any permit for doing work is issued, under the terms of <br />this ordinance, the following fees, to-wit: <br /> <br />For issuing permit ........................ $1.00 <br />For inspection of ten or less <br />fixtures ................................ .50 for each fixture <br /> <br />FOr each outlet installed at a distance <br /> not exceeding 18 inches apart .......... <br />For each outlet installed at a distancg <br /> of more than 18 inches apart ........... <br />For each arc lamp and switch. ............. <br />For each motor of one horse power <br /> Or less. ............................... <br />For each motor in excess of one <br /> horse power. ......................... <br /> <br />For each generator motor of one <br /> horse power or less. ........ .... ...... <br />For each generator motor in excess of <br /> one horse power, ............ . ........ . <br /> <br />· 05 <br />.50 <br /> <br />.50 <br /> <br />.10 for each <br /> additional <br /> horse power <br /> <br />.50 <br /> <br />.10 for each <br /> additional horse power <br /> <br />For the <br />For each mercury arc rectifier and <br /> equipment ............................. <br />For installing electric signs ............ <br />For wiring electric signs ................ <br />For electric fan, carbonizer, water <br /> heater and all special outlets not <br /> specified a charge of ................. <br /> <br />inspection of each electric range 1.00 <br /> <br />1.00 <br />1.00 <br /> .30 per outlet <br /> <br />1.00 per outlet will be charged <br /> <br />Section 20. <br /> <br />General Requirements· <br /> <br /> All wires installed in or on all buildings or other structures of the City of Santa <br />Aha, which wires are used for the purpose of conducting electricity for light, heat or power, <br />shall be inclosed in approved metal conduit, armored cables, or metal moulding, as hereinafter <br />set forth, with the following exceptions: <br /> <br /> (a) A building designed and built as a single residence for one family only, out- <br />side of Fire District. <br /> (b) For installations of open wiring in buildings in the process of construction <br />or installations of open wiring used in the lighting of e~hibitions, fairs, celebrations, and <br />similar displays of a temporary nature. <br /> (c). For the installation of all wiring in central and substations for conducting <br />electricity for light, he~t or power when such wires carry a voltage that renders their <br />installation in conduit impracticable. <br /> <br />Section 21. <br /> <br /> Services to any building must protrued from the ~de of the building closest to <br />the power company service poles. <br /> <br /> All services shall be installed in conformity with the orders of the InduetrAal <br />Accident Commission, and National Board of Fire Underwriters with the exception that no 3 <br />phase power service will be permitted in the same conduit with lighting service. Ail sub- <br />feeds must have .individual switch cutout at point of connection to service or bus service. <br />Ail feeds and subfeeds to motors must be in separate conduits. <br /> <br />No service is allowable less than No. 10 ~ B & S Gauge wire and 3/4" conduit. <br /> <br />Section 22. <br /> <br /> · All fixtures, brackets, switches, wall or floor receptacles which are installed <br />within eight feet vertically or five feet horizontally of conducting floors, piping or other <br />grounding materimls shall be permanently and effectively grounded in an approved manner. <br />No green and yellow cord is allowable for fixture work of any nature. <br /> <br /> <br />
