It shall be unlawful to install, or use, ~or put into <br />operation, or connect to the domestic water supply of the <br />City of Santa Aha, any water operated aspirator, vacuum pump, <br />or any other similar water operated appliance, unless such <br />aspirator, vacuum pump or similar appliance is equipped with <br />a check valve and air siphon breaker approved by the Plumbing <br />Inspection Department. <br /> <br /> All water pipes, faucets, valves or fittings supplying <br />water to any fixture, appliance or pool, shall be installed <br />toterminate at a point not less than one (1) inch above the <br />highest possible water l~ne of such fixture, appliance or pool <br />unless each individual water supply line to each fixture, <br />appliance or pool is equipped with an air siphon breaker and <br />check Valve. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful to install any plumbing fixture, <br />construction, de,ice, valve, fitting, apparatus or connection <br />which will provide a cross connection between a distributing <br />system of water used for drinking and domestic purposes, and a <br />drainage system, so as to permit or make possible the back flow <br />of sewage or waste into the water supply system. <br /> <br /> All flushometer valves installed to operate the water <br />supply to any toilet, bidet or similar fixture shall be equipped <br />with an air siphon breaker and check valve. The siphon breaker <br />shall be built as an integral part of the flushometer valve." <br /> <br />(I) That Section 179 of said Plumbing COde is hereby amended so as to <br /> <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 179. Flashings. <br /> <br /> Pipe flashings shall be installed on and over all plumbing <br />ventilating pipes which extend through any portion of a tile, <br />shake, shingle, or imitation tile, shake, or shingle roof or <br />roof covering. Flashings shall be made of either sheet lead of <br />not less weight than two and one,half (2~) pounds, or sheet copper <br />of not less weight than fourteen (14) ounce, or galvanized sheet <br />metal of not less weight than U.S. twenty-six (28) guage, or other <br />material impervious to water and having weather resistance equal <br />to the said metal flashing, and shall be of the following size: <br /> <br />Pipe size of Flashing <br /> <br />Size of Roof Plate <br /> <br />One and one-half (1~) inches Fifteen (15) by eighteen (18) inches <br />Two (2) inches Fifteen (15) by eighteen (18) inches <br />Three (3) inches Seventeen (17) by Twenty (20) inches <br />Four (4) inches Eighteen (18) by Twenty-one (21) inches <br /> <br /> Provided however, that any pipe sleeve erected on any flashing <br />roof plate, shall be so situated that its outside walls shall be <br />at least six (8) inches in any direction from the edge of the <br />flashing roof plate, and also provided that the entire surfaces <br />of all galvanized flashings shall be coated with a coat of red <br />lead paint." <br /> <br />(J) That Section 208 of said Plumbing Code is hereby amended so <br /> <br />as to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 208. Unions in Gas Lines. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful to use or install unions in gas piping <br />at points other than at the meter and ~pliance connection or in <br />unconcealed places, provided however, that no union connection <br />shall be installed in gas piping which is erected in walls, <br />ceilings or other concealed places which are not readily accessible. <br /> <br /> Ail unions used in connection with gas ~iptng shall be iron <br />to brass or iron to iron ground Joint seats. <br /> <br />(K) That the portion of Section 218 commencing at paragraph four <br /> <br />(4) of sub-section B of Section 215, and ending at p~ragraph seven (7) of sub- <br /> <br />section B of Section 215 be amended so as to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "All vents and vent flues shall be carried undiminished in <br />size at least four (4) inches through and above the roof, and be <br />capped by a suitable flashing made of fourteen (lA) ounce copper <br />or galvanized sheet metal of not less weight than twenty-six (26) <br />guage, or other material impervious to water and having weather <br />resistance equal to said metal flashing. <br /> <br /> Sumh cap flashings shall be so constructed as to be proof <br />against reverse draft circulation, and of a pattern acceptable to <br />the plumbing inspection department. The ventilating cowl of the <br />flashing, when installed, shall in all cases be established on a <br />horizontal plane, and all portions of the'cowl shall be elevated <br />a minimum distance of six (6) inches above the roof cover~g. <br /> <br /> <br />
