shall be submitted to the Board of Trustees, together with cash, a cer- <br /> tified or cashier's check, or surety bond, to be approved by the Board <br /> of Trustees, in the amount of the estimated cost of the improvements as <br /> a guarantee that the improvements will be made, with a statement list- <br /> ing the specific improvements to be made. <br /> <br /> (c) The following improvements are required on all new <br /> streets; the construction of curb and sidewalk, the installation of <br /> water, sewer and gas mains; the installation of sewer laterals and water <br /> services from mains to curbs; and the grading and paving of streets and <br /> alleys, except that the Board of Trustees may at its option omit the re- <br /> quirement for sidewalks where the construction of sidewalks wouid not <br /> conform 'to the aopearance of the surrounding subdivided and occupied <br /> area. <br /> <br /> (dl All sidewalks and curbs shall conform to existing 0rdin- <br /> ances and requirements of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> (e) All grading, preparation of the subgrade, and all sur- <br /> facing shall be done in accordance with the Standard Specifications of <br /> the Department of Public Works, Division of Highways of the State of <br /> California, and to any and all special provisions and requirements of the <br /> City of Santa Ana which may be in force at the time. <br /> <br /> ~ (f) The minimum requirements for surfacing of streets and al- <br />leys in strictly residential areas not subject to heavy, fast traffic <br />shall be an untreated rock or crusher run base 4 inches thick after <br />thorough compaction, upon which shall be laid plant-mix surfacing, the <br />thickness of which shall be not less than 2½ inches when compacted. <br /> <br /> (g) On streets which are subject to or may become subject to <br />heavy and/or fast travel the Board of Trustees may require a thicker sub- <br />base and surfacing than the minimum requirements. <br /> <br /> (h) On streets now open to public travel on which an asphalt, <br />concrete, or oil mix surfacing has been constructed in the central por- <br />tion of the street, the above requirements on surfacing shall apply to <br />all of that portion of the street lying between the edges of the ribbon <br /> <br />- 2 - <br /> <br /> <br />
