262 <br /> <br />ColIaction, removal <br />and/or purchase of <br />rubbish, trash and/or <br />garbage and operation <br />of City Dump <br /> <br />In Re <br />Specifications for <br />Radio Communications <br />System - Fire Dept. <br />Adv. for bids <br /> <br />The Administrator reported on the bids submitted for the collection, .~ <br />removal and/or purchase of ~ubbish, trash and/or garbage and stated i: <br />that the Lennox Disposal Service had filed a supplementary bid. The .I <br />supplementary bid was read quoting a price of $2495.00 per month, for ~: <br />the picking up and disposal of wet garbage from commercial and <br />residential areas, at a total cost of complete service of $13',345.00 <br />per month, less $100.00 per month to be paid to the City for use of the <br />Dump. The Administrator recommended that the bid of the Lennox Disposal <br />Service be accepted at a total cost of 85~ per meter, per month, less <br /> <br />$100.00, George Lance, 1242 Cypress Ave. requested inform- <br /> <br />ation as to why he was requ~ed to pay 85~ per month for the collection.. <br />of trash and garbage when he owned a five-room house and apartment <br />owners paid the same amount, Trustee Dahl replied that the cost would <br />not be pal~ by the individual tax payer directly but is paid out of the <br />general tax fund. Several City trash employees brought out questions <br />over what type of trash would be picked up, the type of service which <br />would be given and wha~ kind of a saving could be effected by continuing <br />the City operation backed by a controlling Ordinance. Opinion No. 146, <br />of the City Attorney, was read reference collection cf garbage and <br />trash. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />Opinion was received and filed. It was moved by Trustee McBride and <br />seconded by Dahl that the award be made at the stated sum, as set forthl <br />in the supplementary bid of 85~ per Water meter, per month, less <br /> <br />$100.00 for the rental of the dump, per month, and the Administrator <br />and City Attorney were instructed to prepare the co.ntract. <br /> <br />Roll Call Ayes Trustees <br /> Noes Trustees <br /> <br />Absent Trustees <br />Motion lost. <br /> <br />J.L.McBride, Milford W. Hunter <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dab/, seconded by McBride and carried, all bids <br />were rejected and checks ordered returned. On motion of T~mstee Dahl, <br />seconded by McBride and carried, the Administrator was directed to <br />negotiate a contract for the collection of garbage and trash and submit <br />the proposal to the Council. On mo~ion of Trustee McBride, seconded <br />by Dahl and carried, the Attorney and City Engineer were instructed to <br />prepare an Ordinance regulating the weight limits and limitations on <br />the type of trash to be picked up by the collecting agency, and an <br />estimate submitted by the City Engineer as to the potential savings <br />which migh.t be achieved in the enactment of such an Ordinance and <br />continued operation by ~ity forces. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the spec- <br />ifications for radio communications system for ~he Santa Ana Fire Depart- <br />ment were approved and Clerk authorized to advertise for bids for the <br />furnishing of one Base Station complete with antenna; eight 6 volt <br />mobile transmitters and receivers; five 12 volt mobile transmitters and <br />receivers and two portable and pack sets: bids ~o be opened October 6, <br /> <br /># <br /> <br /> <br />
