Hanson) <br /> <br />In Re <br />Contract for <br />collection of <br />garbage and trash- <br />Adam Schlenining,Jr. <br />& Randolph Odne dba <br />Lennox Disposal Serv. <br />(Santa Ana Commercial <br />Company) <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request <br /> of Santa Ana-Tustin Community Chest for permission to place pole cards <br /> on light standards throughout the downtown area dtu'ing the period of <br /> the annual Community Chest campaign was granted, provided the cards <br /> <br /> are removed from the poles not later than one week after the campaign. <br /> # <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, oommunicatic <br />from American Municipal Association extending an invitation to attend <br />~he annual American Municipal Congress to be held in Los Angeles on <br />'December 1, 2, 3, 1952, was received, filed and referred to the <br /> <br /> Administrator for future reference. <br /> # <br /> Communication was read from Santana Inc. advising that i$ is part of <br /> the required improvements of Tract 1608 to top the trees along the <br /> south bank of the Santiago Creek back to forty feet in heigh~ at their <br /> expense, and on motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and <br /> <br /> carried, the communication was received, filed and approved. <br /> # <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Division of Highways reference <br /> installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Santa Aha <br /> Boulevard and Flower Street and advising that the City will be request- <br /> <br /> ed to participate in one-half of the cost of the installation. On <br /> <br /> motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Hunter and carried, the <br /> <br /> Administrator was authorized to negotiate a contract with the State, <br /> the City to pay $5000.00 of the installation fee, the money to be paid <br /> out of the parking meter fund and officials authorized to execute <br /> <br /> contract. <br /> . <br /> Communication was read from the Pacific Electric Railway Company <br /> advising that the Santa Ana Line between Bellflower and Santa Ana, also <br /> between New Delhi and Dyer and between Greenville and the Air Base <br /> will be discontinued and that the Company will either remove with its <br /> own forces or let contract for the removal of poles and overhead wires, <br /> On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br /> communication was referred to the Administrator and Attorney for writt~ <br /> <br /> report at the next meeting as to the effect on its franchise. <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by-McBride and carried, the <br /> Order of Submission and Findings of Fact of the Industrial Accident <br /> Commission in the case of State Employees' Retirement System and <br /> <br /> Johan J. Hansen versus the City of Santa Ana, was received and filed. <br /> . <br /> The Administrator recommended that a contract be entered into with <br /> Adam Schlenining, Jr. and Randolph 0dne dba Lennox Disposal Service <br /> for the collection of trash and garbage under the terms of the <br /> submitted bid of 85~ per meter per month for all operations except the <br /> <br /> dump, $100.00 per month to be paid to the City for use of the Dump and <br /> be <br /> official~authorized to execute contract. On motion of Trustee Dahl, <br /> <br /> seconded by Hunter and carried, the recommendation of the Administrator <br /> was approved and officials authorized to execute contract, with the <br /> modifications as dlsoussed by the Council. Mr. Kazaroff was questions <br /> if he would be willing to cancel the garbage contract as of November 1 <br /> <br /> 1952 and he agreed to furnish a letter to that effect. <br /> # <br /> <br /> <br />
