(flood control) Communication was read from the City Engineer advising that improve- ments within the boundaries of Tract No. 1558 have been completed and on motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, check filed by Emmet C. Rogers, in the sum of $11,000.00, was ordered released. A petition was read signed by five business persons in the 300 block East First Street requesting that a 24 minute parking limit be est- ablished on the south side of the street from Orange Avenue to the school alley, and a Resolution passed by the Roosevelt School Parent- Teacher~ Association roquesting that the curbing on the west side of Maple Avenue between First Street and Walnut Street be painted yellow; that crosswalks be painted corner to corner at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Walnut Street and at the point where the alley west of the school grounds Joins Walnut Street and that a "Safety Girl" traffic sign be placed at the intersection of Walnut Street and Maple Avenue. On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by McBride and carried, the requests were referred to the standing committee on curb usage for definite report at the next meeting. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the application of the Pacific Electric Railway Company for authority to adjust and increase its interurban fares, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee. McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, communication from the Boundary Commission approving amended proposal of Walter Cole reference propose& annexation of approximately eight acres lying between the River Channel and King Street south of 15th Street, was received and filed. . Communication was read from Preston Turner, Special Counsel' for the Joint Outfall Sewer advising that Supplemental Agreement provides thati~ the alternate shall be a member of the governing board of the respecti'~e Cities and Sanitary Districts, and it will be necessary to reappoint an alternate to comply with the terms of the last Supplemental Agree- mont. On motion of Trustee. Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, J.L.McBride was reappointed the designated representative of the Executive Committee empowered to enter into a contract between the Executive Committee of the Orange County Joint Outfall Sewer and the State Employee's Retirement System, and Mayor Courtney R. Chandler wasi! reappointed to serve as alternate representative of the Executive Committee. # Communication was read from Towner Manufacturing Company requesting that adequate flood control measures along the Santa Aha River be take~ to protect their property. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by! Jerome and carried, the Administrator was instructed to communicate with To~ner Manufacturing CompanY and indicate the Council's willingness to do everything possible to bring about the improvement of the flood control dikes.
