Co. <br />(flood control) <br /> <br />Communication was read from the City Engineer advising that improve- <br />ments within the boundaries of Tract No. 1558 have been completed and <br />on motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, check <br />filed by Emmet C. Rogers, in the sum of $11,000.00, was ordered <br />released. <br /> <br />A petition was read signed by five business persons in the 300 block <br />East First Street requesting that a 24 minute parking limit be est- <br />ablished on the south side of the street from Orange Avenue to the <br />school alley, and a Resolution passed by the Roosevelt School Parent- <br />Teacher~ Association roquesting that the curbing on the west side of <br />Maple Avenue between First Street and Walnut Street be painted yellow; <br />that crosswalks be painted corner to corner at the intersection of <br />Maple Avenue and Walnut Street and at the point where the alley west <br />of the school grounds Joins Walnut Street and that a "Safety Girl" <br />traffic sign be placed at the intersection of Walnut Street and Maple <br />Avenue. On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by McBride and carried, <br />the requests were referred to the standing committee on curb usage <br />for definite report at the next meeting. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />application of the Pacific Electric Railway Company for authority to <br />adjust and increase its interurban fares, was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee. McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, <br />communication from the Boundary Commission approving amended proposal <br />of Walter Cole reference propose& annexation of approximately eight <br />acres lying between the River Channel and King Street south of 15th <br /> <br />Street, was received and filed. <br />. <br />Communication was read from Preston Turner, Special Counsel' for the <br /> <br />Joint Outfall Sewer advising that Supplemental Agreement provides thati~ <br />the alternate shall be a member of the governing board of the respecti'~e <br />Cities and Sanitary Districts, and it will be necessary to reappoint <br />an alternate to comply with the terms of the last Supplemental Agree- <br />mont. On motion of Trustee. Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, <br />J.L.McBride was reappointed the designated representative of the <br />Executive Committee empowered to enter into a contract between the <br />Executive Committee of the Orange County Joint Outfall Sewer and the <br />State Employee's Retirement System, and Mayor Courtney R. Chandler wasi! <br />reappointed to serve as alternate representative of the Executive <br /> <br />Committee. <br /># <br /> <br />Communication was read from Towner Manufacturing Company requesting <br />that adequate flood control measures along the Santa Aha River be take~ <br />to protect their property. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by! <br />Jerome and carried, the Administrator was instructed to communicate <br />with To~ner Manufacturing CompanY and indicate the Council's willingness <br />to do everything possible to bring about the improvement of the flood <br />control dikes. <br /> <br /> <br />
