The members first appointed to such boards and com- <br /> missions shall so classify themselves by lot that the term of one of each <br /> of their number shall expire each succeeding July 1. Where the total <br /> number of the members of a board or commission to be appointed ex- <br /> ceeds four, tho classification by lot shall provide for the pairing of terms <br /> to such an extent as is necessary in order that the terms of et least one <br /> end not more than two shall expire in each succeeding year. Thereafter, <br /> any appointment to fill In unexpired term shall be for such an unex- <br /> pared period. <br /> <br /> Section 902. APPOINTIVE BOARDS AND CO/V~41SSIONS: APPRO. <br />PRIATIONS. The City Council shall include in its annual budget such <br />appropriations of funds as, in its opinion, shall bo sufficient for the efta. <br />·cient and proper functioning of su,~h appointive boards and commissions. <br /> <br /> Section 903. APPOINTIVE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: EXIST- <br />lNG BOARDS. Members of existing appointive boards and commas- <br />sloes at the time this Charter takes effect shall continue in office and shall <br />perform their duties until other provisions shall have been made as pro- <br />reded in this Charter for the performance of such duties and for the <br />discontinuance of such boards or commissions. <br /> <br /> Section 904. APPOINTIVE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: MEET- <br />INGS, CHAIRMAN. As soon as practicable after this Charter takes <br />effect, each of the various boards end commissions enumerated in this <br />article shall organize by electing one of its members chairmen and one <br />vice-chairman, which officers shall hold office until August 1, 1954, end <br />until their successors are elected, unless their membership on the board <br />or commission sooner expires. 'lhe election of each succeeding chairman <br />and vicKhairman shall be held at the meetings of the respective boards <br />and commissions during the month of July of each year. The board or <br />commission, in the event of a vacancy in the office of the chairman or <br />vice-chairman, shall elect one of its members for the unexpired term. <br /> <br /> Each hoard or commission shall hold a regular meeting at least <br />once a month with reasonable provision for attendance by the public. <br />The City Manager shall designate a secretary for the recording of min- <br />utes for each of such boards and commissions, who shall keep · record <br />of its proceedings and transactions. Each board and commission shall <br />prescribe rules end regulations governing its operations which shall be <br />consistent with this Charter and shall be filed with the Clerk of the <br />Council for public inspection. <br /> <br /> Section 905. APPelLaTIVE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: COM- <br />PENSATION. The ~embers of appointive boards end commissions <br />shall receive such compensation, if any, as may be prescribed by ordin- <br />ance and may receive reimbursement for necessary traveling and other <br /> <br /> <br />
