A~thur Nisson, Jr. Attorney, for the <br />Communication <br />City of Tustin City of Tustin rcquecting the consent of the Council to the annexation <br />(proposed annexation) <br /> of tba'ee lots to the City of Tustin, as required under the provisions <br /> <br />of Government Code Section 35305.5. On motion of Trustee Dahl, <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication was received, filed <br /> <br />and the Clerk instructed to direct a communication to the City of <br /> <br />In Re <br />City of Monrovia <br />(utility franchises) <br /> <br />advising that the Council consents to the proposed annexation. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the City of Monrovia reference cities <br /> <br />pooling their resources in matters such as the case of the City of <br /> <br />Petaluma versus Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Corporation on utility <br /> <br />franchises, and on motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communication <br />Toastmasters <br />International <br /> <br />carried, the communication was received and filed. <br /> <br />Com~unication was read from James J. Wright, Chairman, Special Citizens <br />be adopted <br />Committee, suggesting that a form of Resolution or Proclamation <br /> <br />aside a day or days to pay tribute to Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, founder <br /> <br />of Toastmasters International, at a party February 26th, 1953, for the <br /> <br />purpose of celebrating his seventy-fifth birthday. On motion of <br /> <br />Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Mayor was authori: <br /> <br />to designate one day, by proclamation, preferably Dr. Smedley~s birth- <br /> <br />In Re <br />Request <br />Treesweet Products Co. <br /> (drill hole for disposal <br />of clean waste water) <br /> <br />day, in ~ccordanoe with the request. <br /># <br /> <br />Communication was read from Treesweet Products Company requesting <br />permission to drill a hole for the disposal of clean waste water at <br />ll02 East Fourth Street, at an approximate cost of $2500.00 to drill <br /> <br />the hole and install auxllliary equipment. On motion of Trustee <br /> <br />Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request was gu-anted provided <br /> <br />the work is performed under the supervision of the City Engineer for <br /> <br />In Re <br />Request <br />Fire Chief <br /> (40-hour work <br />week) <br /> <br />safety precautionary measures and communication ordered filed. <br />Communication was read from the Fire Chief advising that due to the <br />change of hours per week for Officers and members of the Fire Department <br /> <br />Suppression Division to a shorter work week, he recommended that the <br /> <br />various department personnel assigned to straight day work have their <br /> <br />work week shortened to the forty-hour week, and that Article 5, Section <br /> <br />7 of the Rules and Regulations be changed to read "Office hours shall <br /> <br />be from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on all days except Saturdays, Sundays <br />and Holidays~. On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and <br /> <br />In Re <br />Joint Outfall <br />Sewer Minutes <br /> <br />carried, the request was granted. <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mcbride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> <br />Minutes of the Executive Committee of the Joint Outfall Sewer held at <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communication <br />Dept. of Social <br />Welfare <br />(Street musicians <br />and beggars) <br /> <br />Anaheim, February 5, 1953, were received and filed. <br />. <br />The City Attorney stated that the Santa Ana Ordinance is similar to the <br />County Ordinance, as submitted by Thomas P. Douglas, Director; Depart- <br />ment of Social Welfare, with reference to street beggars and musicians <br />on City streets. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Mcbride and <br /> <br />carried, the Clerk was instructed to direct a communication to <br /> <br />Mr. Douglas extending the appreciation Of the Council for his offer to <br /> <br />use the trained staff of the Welfare Department to investigate the <br />street musicians and beggars on City streets, and that the Council will <br /> <br /> <br />
