Most have, at <br /> minimum, received college level or vocational education in interpretation. This includes theory and <br /> practice in education, legal, medical, and administrative interpretation. Interpreters certified with the <br /> Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf(RID),Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters(CCHI) <br /> or other state and national certification bodies represent the greater percentage of our independently <br /> contracted professionals. Our sign language interpreters are certified by either the Registry of <br /> Interpreters for the Deaf(RID) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC), and all have EIPA standards <br /> at a 3.5 or better. Our interpreters adhere to strict interpreter guidelines that pertain to privacy and <br /> confidentiality, professional conduct,and ethics. <br /> IU has developed its own certification process to ensure all translators have adequate certifications and <br /> experience. We accept only highly specialized, professional language vendors (interpreters, translators, <br /> editors, proofreaders)who can meet our stringent quality standards. Each translator has to complete our <br /> in-house Assessment Program (at a minimum) and Qualification Survey.
