<br /> Tract No. 1739, submitted by Emmet C. Rogers, for a subdivision of a
<br /> portion of Lot 3 of the "Bates Tract", Lots 1 to l0 inclusive, and
<br /> Lots 32 to 37 inclusive of Tract No. ~572, and those portions of 19th
<br /> Street and Louise Street vacated by Resolution No. 53-54, and bond in
<br /> the sum of $15,000.00, were approved and officials authorized to sign
<br /> Map. ·

<br /> Communication was read from George E. Bradley, Attorney for the Black
<br /> and Green Cab Company requesting an extension of the permit to uss two
<br /> metered stalls for a taxicab stand at 316 Bush Street, and on motion
<br /> of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and carried, the request was
<br /> granted for an extension of thirty days.
<br />
<br /> Communication was read from Crown Motors, 1711 South Main Street,
<br /> requesting that an investigat~ion be made as to the possibility of
<br /> making changes in the north and south bound bus stops at the corner of
<br /> Main and Berkeley Streets. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by
<br /> Jerome and carried, the matter was referred to the City Manager and
<br />
<br /> Chief of Police for investigation and report at the next meeting.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, proper
<br /> official was authorized to execute letter of renewal, dated May 28,
<br /> 1953, on Contract N 123-s-4~6~3, for continued service on sewage
<br /> disposal for the Lighter-Than-Air Base, beginning July l, 1953.

<br /> Communication was re~.d from Alma R. Steward, 1709 Spurgeon Street,
<br /> requesting removal of two old carob trees in the parking and replace-
<br /> ment of magnolia trees, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by
<br /> Jerome and carried, the request was referred to the Park Board for
<br /> action.

<br /> communication of the Initiating Committee of the Independent 'an~

<br /> was rea__d/reque~ting the City to Join them in protesting the Application
<br />
<br />of the Southern California Edison Company for a $16i000,000 annual
<br /> electric rate increase.

<br /> The Findings and Award of the Industrial Accident Commission in favor
<br /> of Goldie May Scott, in the sum of $20~8.00, due to death of Glenn W.
<br /> Scott, while employed by the City, was received and filed on motion of
<br />
<br /> Councilman McBride, .seconded by Jerome and carried.

<br /> The Findings and Award of the Industrial Accident Commission in favor
<br /> of Horace M. Lee,- in the total sum of $12,000.00, and a life pension
<br /> at the rate of $18.$6 per week based upon maximum earnings w~s
<br /> received and filed on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome
<br />
<br /> and carried.
