Ibarra, Evelyn
From: LaDonna Williams <ladonna@stus.app>
Sent: Monday, October 28, 2024 3:00 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Johnathan Ryan Hernandez
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Hello, my name is LaDonna Williams. I am writing in regards to the special meeting today regarding Johnathan
Hernandez.
In the short time that I've known Johnathan, he has always steered his words and actions towards what was right for his
constituents and the Santa Ana community. As the councilmember to one of the most diverse Wards in Santa Ana, his
advocacy is for more than just the Hispanics in Santa Ana. He understands that there are African Americans that are far
more underrepresented and need a voice in the community that we helped to build. Many African Americans were
stationed here from "The South" when the El Toro base was built, including my family in the 50s. We fought for our
country, purchased homes; we built business (literally and figuratively) alongside our neighbors.
The City of Santa Ana went on record as a "Safe Harbor" city. So far, it's not been willing to go on record as an ally for its
African American diasporas. When it comes to our holidays, we're told that it's "just an [expensive] party", but no other
group has received this same criticism despite receiving trifold budgets.
Johnathan has only acted in good faith. He wants to see everyone win, not just one group over the other.
Sincerely,
LaDonna Williams
CEO/Founder, Stus
www.instagram.com/stus.app/
