Reetz and Floyd S. and Virginia <br />E. Splawn requesting the City to abandon that Vance Street right-of- <br />way as it exists east of Santiago Avenue, with the condition that a <br />20-foot right-of-way from Santiago Avenue be provided to the Faccou <br />property. On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and <br />carried, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare a Resolution <br />a~ndoning that portion of Vance Street lying easterly from Santiago <br />Avenue for approximately 150 feet. <br /> <br />The Clerk mead communication from the Planning Connnission reference <br />petition of Louis Schulman reGuesting annexation of a portion of <br />territory located north of We~t Orange Road and west of the Southern <br />Pacific right-of-way, and report of the Boundary Commission stating <br />the boundaries of the p~oposed annexation are reasonably definite and <br />certain. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and <br />carried, %~ne petition of Louis Schulman', recommendation of the Plannit <br />Commission and report of the Boundary CommlSsio~ were received and fi] <br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, <br />on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 53-131 proposing to annex <br /> territory to the City of Santa Ana, describing <br /> said territory, giving notice of the time and <br /> place of public hearing where all protests will <br /> be heard and passed upon, and designating the <br /> name of "Schulman Annexation" as an appropriate <br /> name for said territory" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen <br /> <br /> Noes, Councilmen <br /> Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman McBride, <br /> <br />William Jerome, J.L.McBride, <br />Thomas F. Lateen, Milford W. <br />Courtney R. Chandler. <br />None <br />None <br /> <br />Dahl, <br /> <br /> seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />City Manager was directed to inform the City Manager of Orange that <br />Santa Ana did not initiate the proceedings to annex a portion of <br />territory north of West Orange Road and west of the Southern Pacific <br />right-of-way. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the City Manager and on motion of Councilman <br />Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the bid of The SeagTave Co~p. <br />in the sum of $20,027.00, plus Sales Tax, was accepted for the furn- <br />ishing of One 1,000 gallon per minute Triple Combination Pumper and <br />Hose T~Uck, and all other bids rejected. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />request of the Junior Chamber of Commerce for permission to operate <br />the parking lot at the Municipal Bowl, was received and filed. <br />On motion of Councilman J~rome, seconded by Dahl and carried, <br />com~nunication from The Metropolitan Water District with certified copy <br />of Resolution No. 4294 levying a tax for the fiscal year. 195J-54 upon <br />taxable property by the District, including taxable property lying <br />within Santa Ana, were received and filed. <br /> <br /> <br />
