The Manager stated that he <br />had contacted officials of the State Division of Highways and had <br />requested either temporary four-way boulevard stops or traffic signals <br />at the intersection and expects a reply from the State on the problem <br />within a few days. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride s. nd carried, the <br /> <br /> City Attorney was instructed to present at the next meeti~ a written <br /> at Santa Ana Boulevard. <br /> opinion as to whether or not the City may legally close Flower Street_] <br /> <br /> Communication was read from Mrs. N.E.McClain, 802 East Santa Clara <br /> Avenue requesting that action be taken to prevent dogs destroying <br /> plants and flowers and bein~ a nuisance to the neighborhood and that <br /> a leash law should be enforced. On motion of Councilman Lateen, <br /> seconded by Dahl.and carried, the request was referred to the Chief of <br /> Police for recommendation. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from Santa Ana Council of Churches, requesting <br /> permission to place, in the parkway, a pole on which is mounted a mete <br /> and an electrical outlet for the purpose of lighting, hea~ing and <br /> ventilating the Release Time Religious Education Mobile Class Rooms, <br /> at five schools. On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Lateen <br /> and carried, the request was granted subject to the approval of the <br /> <br /> location by the City Engineer. <br /> . <br /> Communication was read from Mabel Rathbun stating that she is the own~ <br /> of twenty acres of citrus property which is in Industrial Area "B" ant <br /> favoring the zoning provided it will include all of the grove and not <br /> divide the property. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by <br /> Dahl and carried, the communication was referred to the Council as a <br /> whole. <br /> <br /> Communication wae read from the City Engineer advising that improve- <br /> ments within the boundaries of Tract No. 1574 have been completed, and <br /> on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Larsen and carried, bond <br /> filed by Burr Huff, in the sum of $40,000.00, was ordered released and <br /> improvements within Tract No. 1574 accepted as completed in accordanc <br /> with plans and specifications. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the City Engineer, with copy of letter <br /> from A1 Garthe, 908 West Pine Street, and list of property owners on <br /> the south side of We~t Pine Street between Flower and Shelton Streets <br /> alleging damages to property caused by Contractor Nick M. Guho. On <br /> motion of Councilman Larsen,' seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> communications were referred to the City Manager for action and repot <br /> and final settlement to Nick M. Guho ordered withheld pending settle- <br /> <br /> ment of damages to public property. <br /> # <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Disabled American Veterans requesting <br /> a free license or a permit to conduct an Amateur Talent Show during <br /> the latter part of October.
