Cole <br /> <br />to the attention of the Council about a yeam ago and requested that a <br />decision be made. Manager Carl J. Thornton submitted a report <br />he recommended that the intersection be kept open, and on motion of <br />Councilman McBride, seconded by Larsen and carried, the report was <br />received, filed and the Hanager instructed to read the report. On <br />motion of Councilman Larsen, seconded by McBride and carried, the <br />petitions for the closing of ~orth Flower Street at both sides of its <br />intersection with Santa Aha Boulevard were denied until such time as <br />the Freeway is completed and substitute route provided. <br /> <br />Roll Call: Ayes Councilmen William Jerome, J.L.McBride, <br /> Thomas F. Chandler <br /> Absent Councilmen None <br /> <br />The Mayor announced this Was the ~ate set for hearing on the amendment <br />application of Wm. T. Reetz to reclassify 8.96 acres south of Delhi <br />Road between Cypress Street and the Pacific Electric Railroad from the <br />R-1 and R-2 Districts to the M-1 District, with the exception that a <br />strip 170 feet south of Delhi Road, the ream 20 feet to be reserved <br />for an alley way, be rezoned to the R-3 District. Charles H. Smith, <br />2343 Maple Street; A.L.01iver, 215 East Delhi Road, Mrs. Adella <br /> <br />230 Central Avenue and others, opposed the reclassification of the <br />property for the reason it would create a traffic problem and the area <br />is now a residential district. Wm. T. Reetz,said he believed the <br />property is logically proper for a plant and did not believe the <br />traffic would be increased. ,On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded <br />by Larsen and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission <br />was disapproved and application of Wm. T. Reetz to rezone the property <br />denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />Clerk was authorized to open the one bid for the furnishing of a <br />station wagon. <br /> <br />Bid of George Dunton: <br />One station wagon for $20?8.44 <br />Less: Allowance for 19~2 Studebaker <br />coupe, Engine ~195355 Total $~ <br />Delivery will be completed not less than thirty <br />days after award. <br /> <br />On motion of Oouncllman Jerome, seconded by La, sen and carried, the <br /> <br />bid was referred to ~he Manager and Pumchasing Agent for report at <br /> <br />their earliest convenience. <br /># <br /> <br />A petition was read signed by twenty-tbmee residents and property <br />owners setting forth nine reasons why the chickens and rabbits belong- <br />ing to Mr. and Mrs. Richard. Hill, 930 West Berkeley Street, should be <br />removed. On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl and <br />carried, the petition was received, filed and referred to the Manager <br /> <br />for investigation.and report at the next meeting. <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, eeconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved, with the <br />deletion of condition No. 2 as imposed by the Commission, and variance <br />g~anted to Walter W. Cole to permit ccnst~uetion of an apartment <br /> <br /> <br />
