<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, action
<br />wae deferred until the next meeting to permit the applicant to be
<br />heard on the abandonment of portions of G~-eenleaf Street between Santa
<br />Clara and Bonnie Brae.

<br />The petition of Catherine Smiley Sherwin and Donald B. Christeson for
<br />annexation of 11.663 acres located north of Memory Lane and 180 feet
<br />west of Flower Street was continued until the next meeting on motion
<br />
<br />of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Lateen and carried.

<br />With the verbal approval of Donald B. Ohristeson and on motion of
<br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Lateen and carried, action on Tentative
<br />Map of Tract No. 2089, submitted by Donald B. Christeson, was con-
<br />tinued until the next meeting.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, Revised
<br />Tentative Map of Tracts Nos. 2018, 2019 and 2020, submitted by Baker
<br />Development Company, covering eighty-four lots located north of East
<br />17th Street between Grand and Linwood Avenues, was approved on
<br />recommendation of the Planning Commission and the Director of Public
<br />
<br />Works.

<br />At the request of Jim Guthrie, representing ~he sellers of the sub-
<br />division, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and
<br />carried, action on Tentative Map of Tracts Nos. 2068, 2069 and 2070,
<br />
<br />was continued until the next meeting.

<br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that
<br />a variance be granted Frank R. Hilditch etal to permit a reduction in
<br />the front set-back to 25 feet on Lots 1 to 8 inclusive, Tract No.1965,
<br />located on the west side of Larchmont Street. The Council having
<br />unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Council-
<br />
<br /> seconded by Lateen and carried, the following Resolution
<br />

<br /> "Resolution No. 54-1 granting a variance on
<br /> variance application No. $5$ where City Council
<br /> made change in the area affected as shown by

<br />inclusive, of Tract No. 1965 and that the requested reduction in front
<br />set-back on Lots I through 8, both inclusive, of Tract No. 1964 be
<br />denied, was considered and passed by the following vote:

<br />carried, permission was granted to eliminate the construction of the
<br />sidewa]_k on the south side of Occidental Street between Flower Street
<br />
<br />and Woodland Place, as recommended by the Director of Public Works.
