Mosquito Abatemen~ Distric~ report In Re Application Taxi driver In Re Beverage Application On recommendation of the Director of Public Works and on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the bid of the American Cast Iron Pipe Company, in ~he sum of $12,160.00 was accepted for the furnishing of 5000 fee~ 8 inch Cast Iron Pipe, and all other bids were rejected. On recommendation of the Director of Public Works and on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the bid of the American Pipe and Construction Company, in the sum of $10,311.68 was accepted for the furnishing of 1696 lineal feet of 18" Class 150 concrete cylinder pipe with special fittings, and all other bids were reJ eot ed. Communication of the Chamber of Commerce was read submitting a petition for the formation of a vehicle parking distrlc~ under the provisions of the Vehicle Parking District Law of 1943. On motion of Council- man Lateen, seconded by Dahl and carried, the petition was received, filed and referred te ~he Clerk for checking the assessed value of each property parcel of land and t2~e/ owner's names and addresses, in the district bounded on the sough by Fourth Street, on the east by Spurgeon Street, on the north by Seventh Street and on the west by Main Street. Communication was read from the Public Utilities Commission granting an extension of time to September 30, 1954, in the matter of the application of the City of Santa ADa for an Order authorizing the re- location of a crossing numbered 6N-35~94-C and a new crossing over the right of way of the Pacific Electric Railway Company at Orange AveDue Just south of Adams Street. On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Dahl and carried, the communication was received and filed. ,, On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, the reques$ of N.D.Whitman, Jr., Consulting Engineer, on behalf of Market Basket, Inc.,for twenty-five foot driveways for proposed marke~ build- ing at 17th and Flower Streets, was referred to the curb usage ~ommittee for reporg. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, the claims of Mona C. Lindawood, 910 French Street, for alleged injuries sustained when her foot caught on the corner of a ~ash can at the corner of Fourth and Sycamore Streets, and of Ida M. T e~-hune, 234~ 0akmont, in the sum of $580.00, for alleged injuries sustained when she fell on the defective sidewalk at North Main and Buffalo Streets, were referred to the At$orney and Insurance Carrier.
