<br /> On recommendation of the Director of Public Works and on motion of
<br /> Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the bid of the
<br /> American Cast Iron Pipe Company, in ~he sum of $12,160.00 was accepted
<br /> for the furnishing of 5000 fee~ 8 inch Cast Iron Pipe, and all other
<br /> bids were rejected.

<br />On recommendation of the Director of Public Works and on motion of
<br />Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the bid of the
<br />American Pipe and Construction Company, in the sum of $10,311.68 was
<br />accepted for the furnishing of 1696 lineal feet of 18" Class 150
<br />concrete cylinder pipe with special fittings, and all other bids were
<br />reJ eot ed.

<br /> Communication of the Chamber of Commerce was read submitting a petition
<br /> for the formation of a vehicle parking distrlc~ under the provisions
<br /> of the Vehicle Parking District Law of 1943. On motion of Council-
<br /> man Lateen, seconded by Dahl and carried, the petition was received,
<br />
<br /> filed and referred te ~he Clerk for checking the assessed value of each
<br /> property
<br /> parcel of land and t2~e/ owner's names and addresses, in the district
<br />
<br /> bounded on the sough by Fourth Street, on the east by Spurgeon Street,
<br /> on the north by Seventh Street and on the west by Main Street.
<br /> Communication was read from the Public Utilities Commission granting
<br /> an extension of time to September 30, 1954, in the matter of the
<br /> application of the City of Santa ADa for an Order authorizing the re-
<br /> location of a crossing numbered 6N-35~94-C and a new crossing over the
<br /> right of way of the Pacific Electric Railway Company at Orange AveDue
<br /> Just south of Adams Street. On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded
<br />
<br /> by Dahl and carried, the communication was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, the
<br />reques$ of N.D.Whitman, Jr., Consulting Engineer, on behalf of Market
<br />Basket, Inc.,for twenty-five foot driveways for proposed marke~ build-
<br />ing at 17th and Flower Streets, was referred to the curb usage
<br />~ommittee for reporg.
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, the
<br />
<br />claims of Mona C. Lindawood, 910 French Street, for alleged injuries
<br />sustained when her foot caught on the corner of a ~ash can at the
<br />corner of Fourth and Sycamore Streets, and of Ida M. T e~-hune, 234~
<br />0akmont, in the sum of $580.00, for alleged injuries sustained when
<br />she fell on the defective sidewalk at North Main and Buffalo Streets,
<br />were referred to the At$orney and Insurance Carrier.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />Minutes of Personnel Board Meeting December 16, 1953 and report of the
<br />Orange 0ounty Mosquito Abatement District for November, 1953, were
<br />
<br />received and filed.
