<br /> On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br /> communication from the Sta~e Employees' Retirement System advising
<br /> that the Retirsment Law requires an actuarial investigation and' re-
<br /> valuation of the assets and liabilities under the System to be made al
<br /> least every four years and is required ~again as of June 30, 1954, was
<br /> received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br /> communication from the State Controller reference estimate of apport-
<br /> ionments to be made from the Motor Vehicle License Fee Fund during
<br />
<br /> the 1954-55 Fiscal Year, was received and filed.

<br /> Communication was read from Mrs. A.B.Sample, Finney ~uto Glass, 409
<br /> North Ross Street, requesting a solution to the problem of parking
<br /> facilities at the place of business, and on motion of Councilman
<br /> Larsen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the request was referred to
<br /> the curb usage committee for report.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br /> request of Arrowhead and Puritas Waters, Inc., t~ install a cement
<br /> approach of 30 foot width along the curb line at 1102 East Sixth
<br />
<br /> Street, was referred to the committee on curb usage with power to act
<br /> ,
<br /> On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br />
<br /> Manager's report for March, 1955, of the Orange County Mosquito Abate-
<br />
<br /> ment District, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, prop~
<br />officials were authorized to execute agreement dated April 20th, 1954
<br />with W. T. Grant Company, for use of the streets, at the northeast
<br />corner of East Fourth and Bush Streets, during the construction of th
<br />building.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br />notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverag~
<br />applications of Eliza P. Marucci, 201 West Washington Avenue and
<br />Norman G. Kong, 801 East Fourth Street, were received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />request of Frances W. King that stop signs be installed immediately
<br />at the corner of 15th and Bush Streets, was referred to the curb usag~
<br />committee for recommendation.
<br />
<br />Communication was read from the Director of Public Works recommending
<br />that all frontage roads built by the State in connection with the
<br />Freeway be named. On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl
<br />and carried, the communication was received, filed and Director of
<br />Public Works instructed to recommend to the Planning Commission the
<br />proper names for the streets.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dauhl and carried, that
<br />the Clerk be instructed to make a formal request of the Department of
<br />Commerce, Bureau of the Census, that a special Federal census be held
<br />~ithin the City of Santa Ana during the month of October, 195h, or as
<br />close thereto as possible; that a check in the amount of $2,825.00 be
<br />drawn by the Director of Finance and for~-arded by the Clerk to the
<br />
