J. Busdiecker, President, Santa Ana Council <br /> <br />of Chm'ohes, addressed to Acting Chief of Police Fink, requesting that <br /> <br />the Council enact strict legislation outlawing both the printing and <br /> <br />sale of undesirable books, magazines and other publications, was <br /> <br />received and filed. <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Jerome and carried, Robert <br />A. Miller was appointed as a member of the Personnel Board to fill the <br /> <br />vacancy created by the resignation of Bob Fernandez; term to eXpire <br /> <br />July 1, 1959. <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, proper <br /> <br /> officials were authorized to execute agreement with Bronley Building <br /> Company, reference cost to other persons connecting into sewer facll~ <br /> ities for the disposal of sewage from property fronting on such facil- <br /> ities, but not within Tract No. 1856. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried,' the <br />communication from the Library Board reference propOsed employment of <br />Francis Kealley, representing the firm of Eealley & Patterson, as con-. <br />sulting architect for the development of plansand specifications lea~- <br />lng to the construction of the City Library, was received and filed. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and carried, that <br />the Library Board be given the power to act in the retaining cf a.local <br />Architect together with'Francis Kealley and Howard'S. Patterson for the <br /> <br />purpose of performing preliminary architectural work to determine the <br /> <br />estimated cost of the Library Building, estimated needs and facilities <br /> <br />at a cost not to exceed 2~% of the estimate; the 2~% to be included in <br />the Architect's fee and the ultimate not to exceed 8%. <br /># <br />On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Councilman Larsen, <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, the request of Mrs. Kenneth B. Sawin <br /> <br />that a two-way stop sign be installed at St. Andrews and South Sycamore <br /> $ <br /> <br />Streets, was denied. <br /># <br /> <br />On recommendation of the committee an~ on motion of Councilman Dahl, <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, the request of the SOuth Santa Ana <br />Church of Christ for permission to use a standard in the center of the <br /> <br />street in front of the Church during Church service, was denied and the <br /> <br />Manager instructed to notify the applicant the reasons for denial. <br /># <br />On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Councilman Larsen, <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, .the request of the SignaJ Oil Company <br />for permission to construct one 25' and one 30' driveway on Grand <br /> <br /> <br />
