<br /> ation of the Manager, dated April ll, 1956, setting forth salary step increases
<br /> thr~e employees, effective May 1st, 1956, was received, filed and approved.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Dah], seconded by Markel and carried, the applications of
<br /> the Metropolitan Coach Lines, Santa Ana-Garden Grove Bus Lines and Southland Bus
<br /> Lines, Inc., before the Public Utilities Con~nlssion: for authority to adjust rates
<br /> for a general raise in bus service fares, and for authority to operate a
<br /> stage and express service, etc. between Los Angeles and Garden Grove, were received
<br /> and filed.

<br /> Communication was read from the Purchasing Agent advising that personal property
<br /> from building at Sixth and Spurgeon Streets was sold at public auction on April
<br /> 12th, lg56 and the s~ of $544.~0 was received and credited to Fund 85-Parking
<br /> District No. 1.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Dahl and carried, the applications of
<br /> Charles D. Harriman, Isidro Otero, Wilbur Griffiths, Robert C. Br~wn, Billy

<br />Ronald Hallett~an~Norri$ Sparrow, to drive taxicabs were received, filed and
<br />granted, with the exception of the application of Donald K. Garlets which s~al? be
<br />referred to the Police Department for further investigation and report.

<br />On motion of Cou~cilm~u ~h]; seconded by Markel and carried, the notification of
<br />the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of bevera~e application of Park Re~,~l
<br />Drug of Santa Ana, 2231 South Bristol Street, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilm~u Dahl~ seconded by Heinly and carried, the request of John
<br />K. Colwell for permission to attend the Attorney's Spring Meeting at Santa Barbara,
<br />April 19th and ~Oth, 1956, was granted.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by D, hl and carried, the plans and spec-
<br />ifications ware approved for the construction of valley gutters and pavement sur-
<br />facing on portions of Sixth, Eighth and Ross Streets at Civic Center, and the
<br />Purchasing Agent was authorized to advertise for bids to be opened May ?th, 1956.
<br />On motion of Counei]mau Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the plans and spec-
<br />ifications were approved and the Purchasing ~ent authorized to advertise forbids
<br />for the widening of pavement on the north side of 17th Street between Towner and
<br />Olive Streets; bids to be o~nedMay ?th, 195~.

<br />Communication was read from the Orange County Council of Community Agencies making
<br />no recommendation with reference to the application of Sister Elizabeth Kenny
<br />Foundation for permission to solicit funds, during the month of May, and on~ motion
<br />of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication was receive~
<br />and filed. On motion of Councilman Fminly, seconded by Dahl and carried, the
<br />application to solicit funds w~s denied.

<br />On motion of Councilman D~hl, seconded by Heinly and carried~ action wasdeferred
<br />until the next meeting reference communication from the Boundary Commission ~n re-
<br />gard to the proposed annexation to the City of Anaheim of territory designated
<br />"Katella Annexation".
<br />
<br />On recnmmendation of the Police Department and on motion of Councilman Dahl,
<br />seconded by Markel and carried, the application of Richard P. Rutherford for permit
<br />to drive taxicabs, was denied.
