On motion of Counc~-n D, hl, seconded by Neinly and carried, the oral <br /> report was accepted and the e~munication received and filed. <br /> <br /> On recommendation of the curb usage committee and on motion of Councilman Heinly, <br /> seconded by D-b~ and carried, the request of seventeen persons that a two-hour <br /> parking limit be established on Cypress Avenue between Walnut and Pine Street, <br /> between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M., was denied. <br /> <br /> On recommendation of the curb usage committee and on motion of Councilman Heinly, <br /> seconded by D-hi and carried, the request of Edward R. Siple was granted for four <br /> thirty-five foot driveways for the Standard Oil station at the southeast corner of <br /> Delhi and Bristol Street. <br /> <br /> The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of <br /> Councilman D,bl, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 56-117 concerning parking limitations and curb <br /> markings in accordance therewith" <br /> <br /> establishing a red zone on the south side of Washington Avenue, between Poinsettia <br /> and Lacy Streets, for the Santa Aha Co, unity Hospital, was considered and passed <br /> by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Councilmen Dale ~. Neinly, J. Ogden Markel, <br /> Milford W. Dahl, Oourtney R. Chandler <br /> Noes, Councilmen None <br /> Absent, Councilmen Willi~ Jerome <br /> <br />The curb usage conmaittee reported on the e~tablishment of a red zone on the west <br />side of Olive Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets and recommended the establish- <br />ment of a red zone on either the west side or the east side of Olive Street between <br />Fourth and Sixth Streets, and to establish "no parking" on one side or the other so <br />as to provide the through movement of traffic. On motion of Councilman Dahl, <br />seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation of the committee was denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dab], seconded by Markel and carried, the Administrative <br />staff was instructed to notify Bascom Rush that action will be taken if he does not <br />voluntarily discontinue the parking of trucks and heavy equil~aent in this particula2 <br /> <br />A report was read from the curb usage committee reference the length of the red zone <br />now established on the north side of Cubbon Street east of Main Street and recom- <br />mended that the present red zonesnot be shortened as they are very necessary for <br />the safe movement of vehicular traffic at this location and at the present time <br />there is no parking problem on Cubbon Street. On motion of Councilman <br />seconded by Markel and carried, the report w~s received and filed. <br /> <br />The Mannger reported on the request of Ella Fleeting, 602 South Birch Street, for az <br />oversize drive~ay to al low the off-street parkin~ . of automobiles at the side yard <br />or the Bishop Street side of the buildin~ actually establishing a parking strip <br /> <br />alongside the~ building, which is in a residential district. O~ motio~ Of Council- <br /> curb cut. <br />man Dahl, seconded by Eetnly and carried, permission w~s granted for the over-size_/ <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman D,h], seconded by Heinly and carried, the matter of the <br />effect of the Charter provisions regarding the State Employees Retirement Law was <br />referred to the Council for consideration at an afternoon meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
