<br />approved and. the variance granted as set forth by the Commission.

<br /> On.motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the recommendation of
<br /> the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of Marvin E. Helsley granted
<br /> to permit the use of existing buildings on property at 1608 Spurgeon Street, for
<br /> professional offices, subject to certain conditions.

<br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending approval of pro-
<br /> posed abandonmen$ of that portion of Harbor Road extending into the property owned
<br /> by Byron-Jackson Company, which is located approximately 1300 feet south of Dyer
<br /> Road. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on
<br /> motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resoluti~
<br /> entitled:
<br />
<br /> "Resolution No. 56-124 approving map, declaring intention to vacate
<br /> a portion of Harbor Road, and fixing a time and place for hearing
<br /> all persons interested in or objecting thereto"
<br />
<br /> was considered and passed by the following vote:

<br /> Communication was read from John W. Hartley, 2775 W. First Street, protesting the
<br /> proposed ready-mix concrete plant to be located on W. Fifth Street between
<br />
<br /> Street and the Santa Ana River, in County territory, and on motion of Councilman
<br /> Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication was received and filed.
<br /> It was moved by Councilman Dahl, seconded by Heinly and carried, that the County
<br /> Planning Commission be notified that the City Council has no objection to the
<br /> variance providing sufficient conditions are imposed on the variance to eliminate
<br /> any dust hazard to the adjoining properties.

<br /> territory designated 'Eighth at King Annex'"

<br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission reference variance granted to
<br /> M.J.Brock & Sons, Inc., permitting erection of a subdivision advertising sign at
<br /> the southeast corner of Bristol Street and Memory Lane and recom~nending a six
<br /> months' ex'tension of time. On motion of Councilman D~hl, seconded by Markel and
<br /> carried, the recommendation Of the Commission was approved and the extension of
<br /> time granted.

<br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission reference variance granted to
<br /> M.J.Brock & Sons, Inc., permitting erection of subdivision advertising signs on
