<br />Conmumication was read from the Chamber of C~mmerce rec~.wmendtng that the zoning laws of
<br />the City be amended to include Agricultural Zoning and E-4, ~ 1 Estates Zoning, and on
<br />motion of Councilman ~efnly, seconded by Markel and carried, the c~unication was
<br />received and filed.

<br />racks as merchandise with reference to the Ordinance prohibiting the display of merchan-
<br />dise.for sale and/or storage of merc%-ndise on sidewalks and offering to clarify the
<br />intention as to whet~er Or not it included newspapers and meE~zine racks. On motion
<br />of Councilman Jerome, seconded by M~rkel and carried, the c¢~...~nication was received and
<br />filed. On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the matter was
<br />referred to the Attorney for clarification of the Ordinance and to report his rec~nd-
<br />ati°ns to the Council.

<br />Co,.-unication was read from the Chairm--, Executive C~mm~ttee, Retail Division of the
<br />Chamber of Commerce protesting the removal of parking on Main Street between Walnut and
<br />Eighth Street, during the month of December, and on motion of Councilman Jerome,
<br />by Markel and carried, the c~m.mmication was received and filed.

<br />Communication was read from The Metropolitan Water District directing attention to
<br />Section 8.1 or Section 8.2 of the Metropolitan Water District Act, and on motion of
<br />Counc~m-~ Jerome, seconded by Eeinly and carried, the Clerk was instructed to notify
<br />District that the City of Santa Aha does not wish to pay out of municipal funds any por-
<br />tion of the amount of taxes to be derived from the ~rea of the Metropolitan Water Distri¢
<br />lying within the City, for the fiscal year 19~7-1g~8.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, secomled by Markel and barried, the legal descriptions
<br />the proposed annexation No. 9 to the City of Garden Grove and the proposed -nnexation of
<br />"Hillview Annexation" to the City of Tustin, were received and filed.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, that escrow instruct-
<br />ions be approved and signed with John R. and Hattie S. Coffin, for property at 620-622~
<br />North Ross Street, in the proposed Civic Center site, in the s~ of $32,000.00.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Mayor was authorized
<br />to execute the waiver of liens, dated November 9th, 19~6, to Sievers Construction
<br />waiving and releasing any an~ all liens or claims or rights of lien on premises
<br />as Lots 1 through 44 Tract No. 2980, on account of labor and material for water lines.
<br />It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, that the petition for

<br />consent to the co~encement of -nnexation proceedings referred to as "South of Smeltzer
<br /> was
<br />Annexation" be received, filed and the consent of the Councit~given to proceedings seek-

<br />lng annexation to the City.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, that the petition for
<br />consent to the c~mnencement of annexation proceedings referre~ to as "North 6f Smeltzer
<br />Annexation" be received, filed and the consent of the Council was given~to proceedings
<br />seeking annexation to the City.
