On motion of Councilman Jerome, <br /> seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was <br /> and the amendment application of Lemon Heights Investment Corp., denied by the following <br /> <br /> vote: Ayes, Councilman J. Ogden Markel, William Jerome, Tilghman A. Taylor, <br /> Milford W. Dahl <br /> Noes, Councilmen Dale H. Heinly <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> . <br /> This being the date set for hearing and no protests having been received, the amendment <br /> initiated by the Planning Commission for the reclassification of property to the rear lot <br /> lines on both sides of West First Street from Artesia to Birch Street, from ~the R-2 to <br /> C-1-PK District, from the R-3 District to the C-2-PK District and for the modification of <br /> the existing C-1 and C-2 Districts by the addition thereto of PK. On motion of Council- <br /> man Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance amending Article IX of the Santa Aha Municipal Code creating <br /> changes in district boundaries, and amending Sheets Nos. 16, 24, 29, 33 <br /> and 37 of the Districting Map to show the reclassification" <br /> <br /> was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br /> This being the date set for the hearing on the~aunexation designated "Delhi and Newport <br /> Annex", on motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the hearing was <br /> <br /> continued until January 21st, 1957. <br /> ,, <br /> A tabulation of bids was presented by the Manager for the construction of pavement on <br /> <br /> Fourth Street approximately 800 feet east of the Freeway, as follows: Total <br /> Sully-Miller Contracting Cc~pany 1~i~,39~.i0 Certified check of $2,000.00 <br /> R. J. Noble Company 11,023.25 Bond of 10% <br /> Griffith CompanV 12,153.90 Bond of $1,3OO. OO <br /> <br /> On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel <br /> and carried, the bid of Ro J. Noble Company in the sum of $11,023.25, was accepted and <br /> the other bidsrejected and bonds ordered returned. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending approval of variance <br />application of Vahan Apelian for permission to use the property situated on the west side <br />of Flower Street (1702 South Flower Street) for construction of four single-family resi- <br />dences, as shown on plot plan, and a protest was read with fifty-eight property owner's <br />signatures abtached opposing the variance. Messrs. G. P. Anderson, Melvin Rosenbaum and <br />Paul Banks objected to the construction on the basis that it would adversely effect the <br />value of adjoining property. Mr. Frezon, Expediter and Mr. W. R. Bro,n, Agent of the <br />applicant,offered to submit a new plot plan. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by <br />Heinly and carried, the variance application of Vahan Apelian was referred back to the <br />Planning Commission to receive the new plot plan. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Planning C~mmission reconmending approval of variance <br />application of C. H. Brockman to permit the use of property situated at 1425 South Bri <br />Street for erection of a 50-square foot Neon sign above the roof of existing building, to <br />advertise the present business and on motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by N~rkel and <br />carried, action on the variance was continued to the meeting to be held December 17, 1956 <br /> <br />and the applicant to be notified to appear. <br />,, <br />It was moved by Oounci]mau Jerome and seconded by Heinly, that variance application #841 <br />of Industrial Enterprises, Inc., be approved to permit deletion of rear yard requirements <br />on property situated on the west side of Oak Street from Dyer Road south to the City <br />Limits (Lots I to 7 inclusive, Tract 2948), subject to the approval of the Fire <br /> <br />Motion lost. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, action was continued for <br />two weeks on the variance application of Industrial Enterprises, Inc. <br /> <br /> <br />
