<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication from
<br /> the Boundary Commission was received amd filed, reference the proposed annexation of
<br /> territory to the City of Garden Grove, Annexation No. 9.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the communications from
<br /> the Boundary Commission were received and filed, reference the proposed annexation of
<br /> territory to the City of Tustin, designated "Hillview Annexation".
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the Resolution of the
<br /> Board of Supervisors and Notice of Filing of Notice of Intention to cLrculate a Petition
<br /> seeking the Incorporation of a new City to be known as "Fountain Valley" were received
<br /> and filed.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Counc~lmau Heinly, seconded by Taylor and carried, the City Attorney was
<br /> instructed to prepare and file a protest with the Board of Supervisors reference the
<br /> granting of permission to file a notice of intention to circulate a petition for the
<br /> incorporation of a new City to be known as Fountain Valley, in view of the fact that the
<br /> overlapping area had previously been filed on by the Cit~ of Santa Ana.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication from
<br /> the Boundary Commission was received and filed, reference the boundaries of the proposed
<br /> City of Fountain Valley and stating that the boundaries are reasonably definite and cer-
<br /> tain as correcte~by the County Surveyor's office, although it overlaps an area in a
<br /> proposed annexation to the City of Santa Ana.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Taylor and carried, the request of Rev. L. Ho
<br /> Willi~mson, Pastor of Chestnut Street Mission, 335 E. Chestnut Street, for a special
<br /> license to preach at variou~ locations on Fourth Street as time and conditions permit,
<br /> was referred back to the applicant to meet the requirements of the Ordinance for more
<br /> specific information on She locations, dates, time and the number and names of the mem-
<br /> bers of the Church assisting in the preaching.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the M~vor was authorized
<br /> to sign an offer to purchase approximately 1.416 acres of Excess State Lands Parcel No.
<br /> 200 (Unit 2), in the County of Orange, located adjacent to the easterly boundary of
<br /> Prentice Park and southwesterly of the Santa Ana Freeway, for ~he sum of $5,890.00; war-
<br /> rant to be issued for said sum and forwarded to the State of California, Division of
<br />
<br /> Highways for transmittal to the California Highway Commission for approval.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the bond of Roy Russell
<br /> filed for the improvements within the boundaries of Record of Survey ~186, C-56, located
<br /> at Santiago Avenue and Edgewood Road, in the sum of $700.00, was ordered released and
<br /> improvements accepted as completed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the certification from
<br />the Department of Commerce Bureau of the Census,advising on the official count of the
<br />returns of the Special Census, taken as of October 27, 1956, showing the population of
<br />
<br />Santa Ana as 69,345, was received and filed.
<br />.
<br />On motion of CounciLman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication from
<br />the State Department of Public Norks was received and filed, stating that the estimated
<br />gas tax revenue for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1957, is $192,930.00; based on the
<br />new population.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded hy Jerome and carried, the resignation of
<br />Sidney L. Lowry as a member of the Personnel Board, was accepted with regrets and a let-
<br />ter of appreciation for his services was ordered sent.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, Alfred C. Bonney was
<br />appointed as a member of the Personnel Board to fill the vacancy created by the resigna-
<br />tion of Thos, W. Markham; term to expire July 1, 1958.
