On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Jerome and carried, the claim of Lillian Fletcher, in the sum of $20,000.00, for alleged injuries sustained in a fall on a defective sidewalk on Riverine Street, approximately 150' south of the southerly curb of Eighth Street, was referred to the Attorney and Insurance Carrier. On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication from the Board. of Supervisors, dated December ll, 1956, giving the results of the votes cast at the Special Election held December 4, 1956, on the proposition to con~ solidate County Sanitation Districts No.~ i and No. 7 into a District to be known as County Sanitation District No. 17, was received and filed. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Taylor and carried, the notifications of the Department of Alcoholic Bever~je Control of beverage applications of Frank Ramirez, 2026 W. Fifth Street, Henry B. Ortega, 316 E. Fourth Street, Leonzo B. Fernandez, 2032 N. Main Street and Andres Flores, Jr., 20~6 ~4. Fifth Street, we~ received and filed. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Taylor and carried, the applications of Rex D. Lowry, Leonard R. Gibbons, Allan G. MacDonald, David G. G~nbert, Hubert L. Rumbaugh, M~%rgaret Northcutt, Wayne E. Lubke, Donald S. f~lmen, Joseph F. Wild, Glenn G. Angley, Donald W. Feagan, Glenn I. Dennis and Charles R. ~;~riott, to drive taxicabs, were granted. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the request of Richard H. Kendall, on behalf of the Santiago District, Boy Scouts of ;~erica, for permission to conduct a parade on Saturday, Febrna~y 9, 1957, was granted subject to the approval of the Chief of Police as to the time and route of the parade. On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the written recom- mendation of the City Manager, dated January 7, 1957, setting forth salary step increases for two employees, effective January l, 1957, and for three employees, effective February l, 1957, was received, filed and approved. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the check of H.M. Neighbour, Jr., in the sum of $157.50, and money order in the sum of $540.00, filed as bonds for sidewalk improvements in Tracts Nos. 1299 and 1502, were ordered re- leased and the improvements accepted as completed. On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Jerome and carried, Change Order No. 2 was authorized for the installation of an under-drain system, Specification No. 2, on the construction of the Reservoir at First and Flower Streets, in the amount of On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Manager was authorized to file a Notice of Completion on contract of Elmer E. On recommendation of the Man~er and on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Heinly and carried, the request of Steed Bros., on behalf of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company, 201 E. Fifth Street, was granted to move the existing canopy, walkway and fence to occupy 14 feet from the curb lines on Bush Street. On recommendation of the curb usage commfttee and on motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the request of Excelsior Creamery Company, 926 East · First Street, for three 24 minute zones, was denied.
