<br />The request of the National IALltiple Sclerosis Society, Southern California Chapter
<br />Los Angeles w~s rend for pezlmtssion to solicit funds, fr~m door to door, on the
<br />evening of August 13th, and on ~otion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Heinly and
<br />carried, the Clerk w~s instructed to ndvise the Organization that it ~ls mecesaary
<br />to file the accepted "Application to Solicit Funds" form, which will in turn be
<br />referred to the Business Men's Association for investigation and report to the
<br />Council.

<br />It was moved by Counctlm~ Jerome, seconded by Heinly and carried, th-t any reques~
<br />frem 0rganizati~ who have conducted ,~m,.1 campaigns for solicitation of funds
<br />be sub~itted to the Council without investigation, but any new requests to solicit
<br />fund~, when the campaigns are not conducted ._nn,,.~y, shall be referred to the
<br />Business Men's Association for report to the Council.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Je~ an~ carried, the request of
<br />American Natio-a~ l~d Cross was granted for permission to place ~,-1~ flags in the
<br />holders on the lamp posts in downtown F~nt~ Aha the evening of February 2$th until
<br />March 31st, 1957, during the period of its campaign and the c~mmunication ordered
<br />filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jez<~e and carried, the request of
<br />Orange County ~eart Association was granted to conduct the 1957 Heart Fund Campai~
<br />durins the month of Febx,:~y, 1957.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the claim of
<br />M~rtina Oonzalez, in the sum of $25,000.00, for -~eged injuries sustained in an
<br />automobile accident which occurred on Oentral Avenue, east of South Olive Street,
<br />dead-end street, was x~feA-A=~I to th~ A%torney and Tn~urance Carrier.

<br />Orange County Water District on proposed water q,,~l Ity objectives for Santa Ama
<br />River near Prado, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Neinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the amended appli-
<br />cation of Metropolitan Coach Lines, before the Public Utilities Commission, for
<br />authority to operate a passenger stage service between Santa Ana, Riverside, San
<br />Hernardino and the Santa Anita Race Track at Arcndia, and between Riverside and
<br />San Bernardino and the Hollywood Race Track at Inglewood, was received and filed.
