No. 57-37 <br />Granting Variance <br /> <br /> "Ordinance amending Article IX of the ~anta Aha }~micipal Code <br /> creating changes in district bou~8~ries, and amending Sheet <br /> No. 12 of the districting map to show the reclassification" <br /> <br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />This being the date set for the continued hearing,the amendment application of <br />Orange County Development Company was considered for the reclassification of <br />property located on the north side of Wilshire Avenue just west of Bristol Street, <br />with a frontage of 1022.02' on Wilshire Avenue and a depth of approximately 271.92' <br />from R-1 to C-1 and R-3 Districts. Numerous persons stood in protest. Ken <br /> <br />1313 South Poplar Street~ presented a petition, containing approxfmately seventy <br />names of persons protesting the reclassification. ~r. Pruitt stated the protes: <br />tants feel this is merely carrying on the old issue and they are in favor of the <br />continuance of the R-1 District on the north side of Wilshire Street. C.W.Hester, <br />on behalf of the applicant, stated the property is probably better suited for an <br />R-1 District, although a portion should be R-3 and C-1 District on Bristol Street <br />to a depth of 240'. On motion of Councllmun Heinly, seconded by Jerome and car- <br />ried, the petition ~as received and filed. It was moved by Councilman Heinly~ <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, that the Attorney be instructed to prepare an <br />Ordinance providing for a C-1 District for a distance of 200' on Wilshire Avenue <br />and 270' on Bristol Street, and the balance of the property to be R-1 District. <br /> <br /> Roll C-11 Ayes, Counci~n D~le H. Ogden l~arkel <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br /> A tabulation of bids w~s presented by the Manager for the construction of nine <br /> brick stoves and two double sinks in the Park kno~m as "Fairview and Center <br /> in accordance with Specification No. 691-~, as fellows: <br /> <br /> R. L. Steinmetz <br /> Total cost $3,570.00, including ~11 applicable taxes. <br /> Completion 60 days frc~ date of contract. 10~ bond. <br /> <br /> Bruce and Krouse <br />Total cost $3,644.80, including all applicable taxes. <br /> Completion 30 days frc~ date of contract. No bond Sr check. <br /> <br /> On rec~ndation of the Munnger and on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by <br /> Narkel and carried, the bid of R.L.Steinmetz, in the s~m of $3,570.00 was accepted <br /> and the other bid rejected. <br /> <br /> The Chief of Police presented a merit certificate and a cash award to Sergeant <br /> James Daniel Comber, of the E1 Toro Marine Base, who was the outstanding driver of <br /> the ~nth in the Santa Aha Safe Driving Campaign. <br /> <br /> Conm~mication was read fr~m the Plauning Commission reccmmending denial of variance <br /> application of Marianne Whelan to permit construction of a single-family dwelling <br /> on rear part of tot at P-17 South Baker Street, in addition to single-family <br /> aud duplex existing on front part of the lot. The applicant spoke in favor of the <br /> application and said the lot has a 240' frontage. It was moved by Councilman <br /> Jerome.and seconded by Markel that the recommendation of the Planning Commission <br /> be approved and the variance denied. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen <br />Noes, Councilmen <br />Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />l¢otion lost. <br /> <br />J. The Council having unanimously <br />waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilmen Heirnly~ seconded by <br /> <br /> <br />
