<br /> granted to permit the use of property just w~st of 2119 West Eighth Street, for
<br /> construction of a two-bedroom stucco dwelling (866 square feet) on each 45-foot halfl
<br /> of the 90' x 125' parcel, without conditions.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation
<br /> of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of E. Reese ~llison and
<br /> Helen E. Peddicord granted to permit the use of property at 1729 Grand Avenue, for
<br /> construction of concrete block building, approximately 33' x 51', to be leased for
<br /> use as an animal hospital, subject to conditions as imposed by the Co,.,~ ssion and
<br /> the Department of Public Works.

<br /> C~-w,unication was read from the Planning Commission recommendin~ denial of variance
<br /> application of G.J.Nardulli to permit construction of one three-unit apar~ent on
<br /> each parcel of property situated at the northwest corner of Valencia Street and the
<br /> Freeway Ramp-up, as the new plot plan did not alter the situation as the subject
<br /> property is not in a multi-family residential area. Mr. Nardulli presented draw-
<br /> in~s and explained the new plot plan. On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by
<br /> Gou~d and carried~ the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and
<br /> the variance denied.

<br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending an extension of
<br />time for six months to Federated Construction Company, et al, on temporary sign
<br />located at the southeast corner of Bristol and M~a~tle Streets, to advertise the sal~
<br />of houses and lots in the Tract one and one-half blocks to the west. On reccmmend~
<br />ation of the Con~nission and on motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and.
<br />carried, the extension of time was approved.

<br />Co~nunication was read from the Planning Co~ission recommending approval of the
<br />newly-created fire zones, as designated on map to be known as the Fire Zone Map, and
<br />on motion of Councilm~u Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the matter was
<br />referred to the Council for study and report.
<br />
<br />Communication was read fram the Planning Con~ission recommending approval of draft
<br />of proposed amendment to the Municipal Code, Article IX, Planning and Zoning, by
<br />the addition thereto, of a new district to be known as the "General Agricultural
<br />District". On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved and referred back to the Commission for further action.
<br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that the section
<br />of Frontage Road north of Fourth Street, adjacent to the Freeway, which is approx-
<br />fmately 600' long, be named "Mabury Street", and on motion of Councilman Markel,
<br />seconded by Hubbard and carried, the recoa~nendation was approved. The Council
<br />having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman
<br />Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitled:

<br /> certain section of unnamed roadway north of Fourth Street"
