On motion of CounciL Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the Clerk was authorized to re-advertise in approximately thirty days, for the sale of the Fire Station Building. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of Mrs. Jean C. Sears granted to permit the use of property just w~st of 2119 West Eighth Street, for construction of a two-bedroom stucco dwelling (866 square feet) on each 45-foot halfl of the 90' x 125' parcel, without conditions. Heinly Absent, Councilmen None On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of E. Reese ~llison and Helen E. Peddicord granted to permit the use of property at 1729 Grand Avenue, for construction of concrete block building, approximately 33' x 51', to be leased for use as an animal hospital, subject to conditions as imposed by the Co,.,~ ssion and the Department of Public Works. C~-w,unication was read from the Planning Commission recommendin~ denial of variance application of G.J.Nardulli to permit construction of one three-unit apar~ent on each parcel of property situated at the northwest corner of Valencia Street and the Freeway Ramp-up, as the new plot plan did not alter the situation as the subject property is not in a multi-family residential area. Mr. Nardulli presented draw- in~s and explained the new plot plan. On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Gou~d and carried~ the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance denied. Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending an extension of time for six months to Federated Construction Company, et al, on temporary sign located at the southeast corner of Bristol and M~a~tle Streets, to advertise the sal~ of houses and lots in the Tract one and one-half blocks to the west. On reccmmend~ ation of the Con~nission and on motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and. carried, the extension of time was approved. Co~nunication was read from the Planning Co~ission recommending approval of the newly-created fire zones, as designated on map to be known as the Fire Zone Map, and on motion of Councilm~u Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the matter was referred to the Council for study and report. Communication was read fram the Planning Con~ission recommending approval of draft of proposed amendment to the Municipal Code, Article IX, Planning and Zoning, by the addition thereto, of a new district to be known as the "General Agricultural District". On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the recommendation was approved and referred back to the Commission for further action. Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that the section of Frontage Road north of Fourth Street, adjacent to the Freeway, which is approx- fmately 600' long, be named "Mabury Street", and on motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the recoa~nendation was approved. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 57-129 designating the name 'Mabury Street' for a certain section of unnamed roadway north of Fourth Street" was considered and passed by the following vote:
