<br /> from Santa Ana Junior Ebell Society and Central Orange County Girl Scout Council,
<br /> protesting the proposed use 6f Birch Park as a parking lot, were received and filed.
<br /> On motion of Counc~lm-n Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of The
<br /> Salvation Army to conduct its annual "Salvage Week" campaign, from May 13th to May
<br /> 18th inclusive was granted, but the request to place placards on the light standards
<br /> in the business district was denied.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Co%lne~lm~ Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the request of
<br /> Orange County Association for Betarded ~hildren for permission to solicit funds and
<br /> offer fresh nosegays for donation on May 17th, 1957, was granted.

<br /> On motion of Councilm-n Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of
<br /> American Legion Auxiliary was granted to sell Veteran mede ~merican Legion Poppies,
<br /> on May 24th and May 25th, 1957.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication was
<br /> received and filed of Charles C. Brisco, Honer Develolmnent Company and Allison Honer~
<br /> Company, stating their intention to develop the north side of Seventeenth Street fro~
<br /> Bristol Street westerly to College Avenue and requesting information as to the City's
<br /> desires on the width of Seventeenth Street and its policy on improvements. It was
<br /> moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by ~a11 and carried, that the policy of the
<br /> former City Council be reaffirmed on acquiring property where necessary for the
<br /> widening of major streets and where subdivision of abutting property is not involved
<br /> on the following basis:

<br /> That 1. The City purchases the necessary right of way and the property owner
<br /> makes the required improvements.
<br /> or
<br /> 2. Property owner dedicates the rights of way, free of charge, to the City
<br /> and the City makes the necessa~-y improvements.

<br />Communication was read from Orange County Radiotelephone Service requesting inclusion
<br />in the list of prospective bidders on two-way radio equilm~ent, and on motion of
<br />CounciLman Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the communication was received and
<br />filed.

<br />On motion of Counc~]m~u Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the co~mmmications
<br />fr~m C.B.Kuickerbocker, Mrs. Gertrude Bobleter, Ernest F. Shade, R.L.Tedford and
<br />
<br />Mr. and Mrs. John Waples, were received and filed in regard to the off-street park-
<br />ing ban.

<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the cummunication
<br />from the Boundary Commission advising of proposed annexation of territory to the
<br />City of Santa Aha "North of Tustin Annexation", of property located northeast of
<br />Santa Ana between Orange and Tustin, and being approximately 4 square miles, and thaZ
<br />the boundaries of the proposed annexation are reasonably definite and certain, as
<br />revised by the Surveyor's Office, although it does cut one parcel of property
<br />logically, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the communication
<br />from the Boundary Coem~ission was received and filed, advising of proposed annexation
<br />of territory to the City of Tustin "Northwest Annexation", of property between First
<br />Street and 17th Streets, along Tustin Avenue, which boundaries are reasonably definite
<br />and certain although it cuts property lines; also, it does overlap a portion of the
<br />areas in the proposed "Mabury Annexation No. l", "Mabury Annexation No. 2" and
<br />
