<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the communication
<br />from the County Tax Collector advising that it is his intention to sell at public
<br />auction Tract No. 668, Lot 4~ Block P, located on Hickory Street between Delhi Road:
<br />and Anahurst Place, was received, filed and the Clerk directed to ~dvise the Tax
<br />Collector the City has no objection to the sale of the property.
<br />
<br />Communication was read from The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California
<br />enclosing copies of letters and policy statement relating to the delivery of un-
<br />softened Colorado River water to the Central and West Basin areas in Los Angeles
<br />County and requesting an expression of opinion regarding the proposals under con-
<br />sideration. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the
<br />matter was referred to the Manager and Director of Public Works for recommendation.
<br />On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried, proper of fi ~ials
<br />were authorized to execute Peri, it with Orville E. Henderson to excavate sand on
<br />City property within the Santa Ana River.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the application of
<br />
<br />the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company, before the Public Utilities on a pre-hearing conference
<br />Commission_/ for authority to reduce its passse~er train service between Los Angeles
<br />and San Diego, Trains No. 2/71 and No. 2/72, was received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Purchasing
<br />
<br />Agent was authorized to advertise for bids for approximately 1736 lineal feet of
<br />chain link fencing for Artesia Park, approximately 2016 lineal feet of chain link
<br />fencing for Santiago extension camp ares4 bids to be opened June 17th, 1957, and to
<br />sell by bid, auction or negotiation certain surplus materials as soon as arrangements
<br />can be made.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the notifications
<br />
<br />of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage applications of Stephen
<br />M. Harvey, 403 W. 4th Street, Katherine E. and Robert C. Johnson, 1314 North Grand
<br />Avenue, and Gorlin Enterprises, Inc., 2015 W. First Street, were received and
<br />filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the communication
<br />from R.M.Alexander, 1905 W. 15th Street, protesting existing condition of a house
<br />and garage moved into the neighborhood, which depreciates the value of the neighbor-
<br />hood, was received, filed and a copy of memo of the Director of Building Safety and
<br />Housing, dated May 21, 1957, was ordered forwarded to the protestant.

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />Councilm~n Hall, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br /> "Resolution No. 57-156 extending Lease No. 3242 leasing to the
<br /> State of California City property at 625 Cypress Street, Santa
<br /> Ana, on a month to month basis"
<br />
<br />and authorizing the Mayor and Clerk of the Council to execute extension of Leas$,
<br />was considered and passed by the following vote:
