<br /> On motion of Counci]~nan Markel, seconded by Gould and carried, the communication
<br /> from the Boundary Commission was received and filed advising of proposed annexation
<br /> of territory to the City of Garden Grove, Annexation No. 25, of property located
<br /> west of the S~ta Ana River and south of Garden Grove Boulevard, and the Clerk was
<br /> directed to notify the City of Garden Grove that ~he City of Santa Aha has no object-
<br /> ions to the proposed annexation.

<br /> re-appointed as a member of the Board of Recreation and Parks; term to expire July

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the communications
<br /> from Leslie E. Powell~ dba Broadway Cab Company, F. Dewey Lockman~ dba The Foundation
<br /> Press, Saunders and Company, Robert O. Ellett~ dba Bob's Pet Shop, C.J.Skirvin, and
<br /> Mrs. Ethel L. Green dba Betty's Cafe~ requesting the abandonment of "One-Way Street~",
<br /> and from Vanche E. Plumb and Mrs. C.R.McPherson approving of "One-Way Streets", were

<br /> referred to the Man~er.
<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hall and carried, the written recon~nend~
<br />ation of the City Manager, dated .~y 20, 1957, setting forth salary step increases
<br />for six employees, effective June 1, 1957, was received, filed and approved.
<br />
<br />The Clerk orally reported that a petition signed by fourteen additional owners of
<br />property requesting that proceedings be initiated for an assessment district for
<br />the construction of pavement, curb and gutter, grading appurtenances and appurtenan~
<br />work where necessary, in the area described as the north half of Myrtle Street be-
<br />tween Daisy Avenue and Artesia Street, all of Pine Street between Daisy Avenue and
<br />Artesia Street and the east half of Daisy Avenue between First and Myrtle Streets,
<br />and stated that the petitions now contain sufficient signatures to proceed with an
<br />assessment district. On motion of CounciLman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and car-
<br />ried, the matter was referred to the Manager for appropriate action.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the Manager was
<br />authorized to employ Special Counsel for the purpose of assisting in assessment
<br />districts~ procedures.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Councilman Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, that the Council
<br />reconsider its previous action denying the request of the Orange County Chapter of
<br />the City of Hope to solicit funds during the month of June. On motion of Council-
<br />man Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request to solicit funds, from door
<br />to door, in the residential district, on June 22nd and 23rd, 1957, was granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the plans and
<br />specifications for the construction of a sanitary sewer on Harbor Boulevard from
<br />Delhi Road to Talbert Avenue, were approved and the Purchasing Agent authorized to
<br />advertise for bids to be opened July 15, 1957.

<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the applications of
<br />Charles B. Dowding, I. P. Bardrum, Sirl Myhand, Jack P. Sappington, George W. Kidd,
<br />Syral S. Sorton~ Berdina A. Imler, Margaret D. Munoz, and Marvin E. Nolt, to drive
<br />taxicabs~ were approved and permits granted.

<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the notifications of;
<br />the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage applications of Robert B.
<br />Harnois, Robert R. Mansfield and Hollis J. Stover, 934 Grand Avenue, Charles D.
<br />Simmons~ 1705 North Main Street, and John E. Baker, 500-02 South Main Street, were
<br />received and filed.
