On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, <br /> the hearing was continued until September 16, 1957. <br /> <br /> This being the date set for hearing on the amem8ment application of Ray B. Price <br /> for reclassification of property situated east of McClay Street, approximately 990 <br /> <br /> feet south of McFadden Street, with a frontage of approximately 265 feet on McClay <br /> from R-1 to M-1 District, <br /> Street and a depth of 1616.5 fee~_~ consisting of approximetely 12 acres, it was <br /> <br />moved by Couneflman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, that the hearing be con- <br />tinued until September 16, 1957. <br /> <br />This being the date set for hearing on the amendment application of Margaret L. <br />for reclassification of property situated south of Hobart Street and w~st of the <br />James Madison School, and north of the easterly extension of Edinger Street, at a <br />depth of approximately 300 feet west of the west side of the School property, known <br />as Parcel No. l, from the R-1 District to the R-3 District, and reclassification <br />of property situated west of Standard Avenue, north of St. Andrews Place, fronting <br />on Standard Avenue and c~encing at a point south of the intersection of Standard <br />Avenue and the easterly extension of Edinger, known as Parcel No. 2, from the R-1 <br />District to C-2 District, it was moved by Counci!m~ Hubbard, seconded by Gould and <br />carried, that the hearing be continued until September 16, 1957. <br /> <br />This being the date set for hearing on the amendment application of Antoue Borchard <br />for reclassification of property situated south of Delhi Road, west of Bristol <br />Street and 250 feet north of Talbert Road with a depth of approxfm~tely 1700 feet <br />west of Bristol Street, from the R-1 District to the M-1 District, Opinion No. 200 <br />of the City Attorney dated August 2~, 1957 was read reference function of Plan~lng <br />Corem1 ssion and City Council in Zone Change. On motion of Councilman Hall, seconde~ <br />by Hubbard and carried, Opinion No. 200 was received and filed. Approximately <br />seventeen persons stood in protest against the reclassification of the property. <br /> <br />A. L. Oliver, 215 East Delhi Road objected to the zoning stating it is the wrong <br />side of town for industry and it will bring smog and foul air over the City, and <br />there is plenty of land in the southeast part of town which is available for indust~ <br />~lso, the people were informed the Revere Copper Company plant would be a modern <br />b,,~!ding but it looks like a hay barn, but was of the belief that the Electro-Data <br />building would be an asset to the community and had no objection to the constructioz <br />Mrs. Dean Wright, 2~3 South Shelton asked various questions reference the rezoning <br />of the property and inquired if the property had been posted for the annexation. <br /> <br />Her questions were answered by the Mayor. E. Bi, w-bower, 920 South Cedar, said he <br />owns property in the area and is in favor of the industry and it will bring decent <br />wages to the factory workers. Jack Diamond, 2128 South Van Ness Avenue stated the <br />Revere plant is a disgrace to the City and congratulated Counc!lm~ ~arkel on his <br />efforts to keep Electro-Data from locating in the southwest section of the City. <br />Novel J~m~s, Industrial Coordinator, gave facts and figures on how the multi-million <br />dollar plant can help Santa Aha by keeping the tax rate down.
