Ogden Markel <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br /> C~-"mB~uication was read from the Planning Comwatssion recoemaending denial of variance <br /> application of Gaylord Jasperson reqUesting permission to use the existing sign, <br /> approximately 450 square feet in area, on property at lOlO South Bristol Street, in <br /> a "C" District to advertise the sale of '~uster's Burgers", ice cream, etc. on the <br /> premises with no alterations other than repainting. On motion of CouncLlman Gould, <br /> seconded by Hubbard and carried, the rec~ndation of the Planning Cnmmission was <br /> approved and the variance denied. <br /> <br /> Cnmmunication was read from Glenn M. Layton of Layton Sof-Water Cc~pany requesting <br /> the amendment of Section 1009 of the 1955 Edition of the Uniform Pl~bing Code to <br /> ,11ow those engaged in the business of installing and servicing rental type water <br /> softeners to continue to operate as in the past, instead of being required to use <br /> Journeyman plambers to install water softeners. On motion of Counci]msn Gould, <br /> seconded by H-11 and carried, the matter was referred to the City Attorney and <br /> ..Director of Building Safety for the purpose of draft!nE an ~m-ndment to the 0rdinan¢ <br /> Co~Eunication was read frc~ Attorney Delbert L. Larsh setting forth twenty-five par <br /> cels of properties on North Bristol Street between Fifth Street and Washington <br /> Avenue and offering a compromise settlement price on each parcel. On motion of <br /> <br /> Counctlm~n Hall, seconded by GoUld and carried, the Attorney was instructed to open <br />escrows on the particular properties for the settlement of the claims. <br /> <br /> Hubbard disqualified b~m~elf on this matter. <br /> <br /> Roll Cai1 Ayes~ Councilmen Stanley C. Hubbard Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Counc~]ma~ Markel, seconded by w,]l and carried, that the following <br /> policy be adopted by the City Council relative to City participation in connection <br /> with street improvements: <br /> <br /> "The City of Santa Aha will improve nine (9) feet each side of the center <br /> line of residential streets that side to property where ~11 the follow- <br /> conditions are met: <br /> <br /> 1. The street has been dedicated to the City and accepted by them prior <br /> to adoption of this policy. <br /> 2. The street was open and used as a public street prior to adoption of <br /> this policy. <br /> The property which sides to the street sh~l 1 have been split into <br /> parcels (by metes and bounds) or into lots by tracts prior to June <br /> 30, 1954, and is not subject to further subdividing in the future. <br /> <br /> This policy wfl ~ apply only to that portion of the street that sides onto <br /> the lots or parcels and will not apply to the front of lots or parcels. <br /> ~he front of the lot or parcel is defined as the narrowest dimension of <br /> the property on a public street. <br /> <br /> This policy will not apply to Assessment Districts. <br /> <br /> The street improvements to be constructed by the City as outlined in this <br /> policy will only be accomplished as money is made available in the budget <br /> for this purpose." <br /> <br /> 0~ motion of CouncilmAn Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Preliminary <br /> Record of Survey Map submitted by C.J.Segerstrcm & Sons on property located approx- <br /> imately lll5 feet west of the Old Newport Road and south of the w~sterly extension <br /> of Delhi Road, consisting of approximately 94.2~4 acres, was approved subject to <br /> conditions of the Department of Public Works. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Mayor was authoz <br /> tsed to execute agreement with Brynley B. Evans, dba Diehl, Evans and Company, date <br /> September 3, 1957, providing for an audit of the books and accounts of the City for <br /> the fiscal year beginning July l, 1957 and ending June 30, 1958. <br /> <br /> <br />
