<br />Conmaunication was read from Acti~ Presiding Judge Robert Gardner of the Superior
<br />COurt requesting Department 6 of Superior Court be permitted the use of the Cou~il
<br />Chamber as a temporary Courtroom until such time as County buildings are available.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the communicatio~
<br />
<br />was received and filed, and the use of the Council Chamber was granted for Depart-
<br />
<br />ment 6 of Superior Court to commence at a time to be agreed upon between the
<br />
<br />Manager and the Presiding Judge and that no compensation to be paid at this time
<br />
<br />but reserve the right to charge for additional costs resulting to the City through
<br />

<br />Councilman Gould read a letter addressed to him from Pat ~lichaels, News Director,

<br />Radio KWIZ containing al ]eged information concerning misconduct of Assistant Chief
<br />
<br />Police Forrest Duke and several other Police Officers. On motion of Councilman
<br />
<br />Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the con~munication was received and filed.

<br />Chief Edward J. Allen said the writer has resorted to insinuations, half-truths
<br />
<br />and untruths to blacken the name of the Department and this is not the first time
<br />
<br />he has resorted to this type of surmise, inference and conjecture; Santa Ana must
<br />
<br />rid itself of character assassins who through mediums of communication exercise
<br />
<br />the power that intimidates decent people. Councilman Gould explained that he
<br />
<br />had been out of town at the time of the incident and did not personally know about
<br />
<br />the facts but had re~ived numerous telephone calls in regard to the mutter.

<br />Mayor Heinly terminated the discussion by stating the City Administration has been

<br />ried, the report was received and filed. On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconde

<br />by Markel and carried, the matter was referred to the City Council as a c~mnittee
