<br /> classified to R-1 District. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel
<br /> and carried, the following Ordinance entitled:

<br /> "Ordinance ~mending Article IX of the Santa Ana Municipal Code
<br /> creating changes in district boundaries, and ~mending Sheets
<br /> No. 56, 57, 58 and 60"

<br />was introduced, cbnsidered and placed on file for second reading.
<br />
<br />On recommendation of the Department of Public Works and on motion of Councilman
<br />Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of Ernest Winbigler was granted
<br />for a six months extension of time, until July 7, 1958, with the understanding and
<br />on condition that a renewal bond in the amount of $3,000.00 be submitted, to insure
<br />completion of improvements on property at the southeast corner of 17th and Lincoln
<br />Avenues,, as shown on Record of Survey Map filed February 6, 1956.
<br />Novel James, representing the Industrial Development Division of the Chamber of
<br />Commerce, G. R. Townsend of Cannon Electric Company and Harry Martin appeared before
<br />the Council requesting approval or recommendation for the extension of the bus
<br />service for two blocks from Central Avenue to Dyer Road for the convenience of the
<br />personnel employed ~ the various industries in the area. It was moved by Council-
<br />man Gould and seconded by Markel that the Mayor extend an invitation to the operator
<br />of the Santa Aha Bus Service and the industrialists to attend the next informal
<br />meeting of the City Council on January 20, 1958, to discuss the extension of the bus
<br />
<br />service.

<br /> On motion of Counci~m~u Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the communications
<br /> from Cannon Electric Co., Audio Devices, Inc., B.J.Electronics and United States
<br /> Rubber Company were received and filed. It was moved by Councilman Gould, seconded
<br /> by Hubbard and carried, that the Mayor be directed to write a letter to the Santa
<br /> Ana Bus Service advising that the Council has no objection to the extension of the
<br /> bus route from Central Avenue to Dyer Road.

<br /> On motion of Connciiman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carriedt action ~as continue
<br /> until January 20, 1958 On the variance application of G.J.Nardulli for permission
<br /> to construct a five-unit apartment building on property at the northwest corner of
<br /> Valencia Avenue and the Freeway ramp.

<br /> On motion of Counc~lm~¥1 Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the recommendation
<br /> of the Planning Co~mission was approved and the variance of Dean M. Smith granted to
<br /> permit decrease in the rear-yard requirements from 20 feet to 12 feet, for a width
<br /> of ll feet (lot 60 feet wide) on property at lll8 North Concord Street, in order to
<br /> permit construction of an addition to existing single-family dwelling, the new add-
<br /> ition to consist of a single story (two bedrooms, wardrobe closets and one bath),in
<br /> accordance with plot submitted with application.

<br />Mrs. Elizabeth Letherby, 13232 Lucille Street, Garden Grove, Co-Chairma4 of Orange
<br />County Citizens Committee for the establishment of an S.P.C.A., explained the method
<br />of operation in order to solicit funds for the establishment and operation of an
<br />additional inland animal Pound, the total solicitation to be approximately $35,000.0~
<br />The investigation report of the Police Department was read and on motion of Council-
<br />man Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the report was received and filed. It
<br />was moved by Counci~mm~ Hubbard, seconded by M~zrkel and carried, that permission be
<br />granted to solicit funds.
