Ambulance Application It was moved by Counc*lm-- H~l and seconded by Hubbard that Lee Smith be nominated as a member of the Planning Co~mission due to the resignation of A.J. (Al) Miller. On motion of Counc~lm,~ Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the appointment of Lee · ~,~th, as a member of the planning Commission, term to expire July l, 1961, was On motion of Counci!~ Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the petition signed by F. M. Flippen requesting am~exation to the City of certain u~nbabited terri- tory consisting of 57.~acressituated on the south side of Garden Grove Boulevard, west of the Santa Ana River, and designated "Memory Lane and River S. W. Annex", and approval of the Boundary Co~ssion, were received and filed. The Council having ~e~imously waived the rea~tng of the Resolution, on motion of Coun¢f~man Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 58-289 giving notice of proposed annexation to the City of Santm Aha of that certain uninhabited territory described herein and designated 'Memory Lane and River S. W. Annex', and giving notice of time and place for hearing of protests thereto" setting the date of hearing on January 5, 1959· was considered and passed by the following vote: Aye S · Coune~ 1 Noes, Councilmen Absent, Councilmen Royal E. Wa~-E· 1910 West 16th Street, requesting that an inspection be made of the abandoned chicken house surrounded by a f~l~en down fence on property adjoining his property on the west, From the California Roadside Council setting forth schedule of hearings to be held on control of outdoor advertising, From Mrs. E. Ross suggesting that First Street be widened by removing the parking on both sides of the street, From the County of Orange, Highway Deparlm~nt, advising that on October 29, the Advisory C~m~!ttee of the Arterial Highway Financing Program met and formelly adopted a Procedure Manual for the Program, and the Technical Staff and Co,.,fttees al? ready to receive applications for allocation of funds for specific projects, in accordance with procedures outlined in the Manual, Application of Bonanza Air Lines, Inc., before the Public Utilities Commission for authority to mak~ certain changes in its intra-state passenger fare~, resulting in increases, Notifications of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage applications of Var Refreshment Co. Inc., 1BO1 East Fourth Street, Narold J. Magnano, 1002 South Orange Avenue, and Carmen G. and Manuel M. Carlos· 14B2 West Fourth Street, and From South Main Improvement Association advising that its Board of Directors approves the proposed route of the San Diego Freeway south of the Orange County Airport, and offers support to its adherents, provided that ~acArthur B~ulevard wtll be maintained as a direct route from the southern terminus of South Main Street to the Coast Highway. On motion of Connotlma~ Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the request of The Church of the p~lms, on ~bal f of the Seventh-DayAAJ=~tist Churches of Santa Aha, was granted to solicit funds beginning November 1, 1958 through February 1, 1959. On motion of Counc~lm~n Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, prOper officials were authorized to e~ecute agreement with the County of Or~n~ in regard to cancel- lation of lease effective November 1, 1958, for use of the auditori~, lounge and kitchen of the Community Center Clubhouse, as a meeting place for Ernest L. Kellog Post 1680, V. F. W. It was moved by Counctlma~ Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, that the appli- cation for permit of Edith M. Paine, dba American Ambulance Service, 1202 East Washington Avenue, to conduct an ambulance service in the City· not be approved.
