No. 202-Baker St. <br />between Fairview and <br />Cubbon <br /> <br />Petitions <br />"West Santa Ana <br /> <br />Petitions <br />"Sullivan and Edinger <br />Annexation" ~ <br /> <br />Contract <br />State Employees' Retirement <br />System - Coates, Herfurth <br />and England, Actuaries <br /> <br />Claim for injuries <br />Dean Wayne Holder <br /> <br />Merit Salary <br />Increases <br /> <br />School Safety <br />P~trol Program <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilmm~ Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Purchasing <br /> Agent was authorized to advertise for bids for one new Class "A" 1000 gallon Pumper, <br /> Specification 626-4; bids to be opened December 15, 1958. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the Purchasing Agent <br /> was authorized to advertise for: <br /> <br /> 15 each 12" and 100 each 6" Cast Iron Cate Valves, per Specification 664-4, <br /> 50 Fire Hydrants, Specification 633-4, <br /> 10OO Water Meters, Specification 665-6, <br /> 8 four-door Sedans for Police work with trade-ins of PI, PS, PlO, Pll, P12 and <br /> P14, and <br /> i two-door Station ~ for Fire Depa~-bment, Specification 621-15; bids to be <br /> <br /> opened December l, 1958. <br /> <br /> On motion of Counc~lm~u Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the coemmication <br /> from the Clerk of the Council was received and filed stating that the signatures <br /> of property owners on the additional petition had been verified with the County <br /> Assessor's records and found to be sufficient for street improvements on Baker <br /> Street between Fairview Avenue and Cubbon, ~n~ on that portion of the north half <br /> of Cubbon Street, immediately south of Lots 9 and 11, Tract No. 420, and the petition <br /> was referred to the Department of Public Works for proper procedure and incXmmion <br /> <br /> in Assessment District No. 202. <br /> ·ere presented <br /> Petitions/signed by approximately 3000 property owners requesting annexation to the <br /> <br /> City of property situated west of King Street and its northerly projection, south of <br /> Trask Avenue, east of Ward Street and north of the south line of Smeltzer Avenue, <br /> designated "West Santa Aha Annex". On motion of Couaci]men Hubbard, seconded by <br /> Hall and carried, the petitions were referred to the Clerk for checking as to the <br /> <br />validity of the signatures with the records of the County Clerk's office. <br /> ~ere presented <br /> Petitions/signed by approximately 673 property owners requesting annexation to the <br /> <br />City of property located within the area east of the Santa Ama River, north of <br />Harvard Street, south of First Street and bounded on the east by a line approximately <br />70 feet east of and parallel to the east line of Center Street, designated "Sullivan <br />and Edinger Annexation". On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and <br />carried, the petitions were referred to the Clerk for checking as to the validity <br />of the signatures with the records of the County Clerk's office. <br /> <br />On motion of Counc~lm~ Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, proper officials <br />ware authorized to execute contract with the State Employees' Retirement System <br />reference contract with Coates, Herfurth and k~land, Consulting Actuaries, for <br />actuarial investigations and valuations. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the claim of Nordine <br />C. and Bettye Jean Holder, on behalf of Dean Wayne Holder, a minor, for alleged <br />injuries sustained while playing in an unfenced portion of Santa Ana Memorial Park <br />on September 13, 1958, in. the sum of $50,000.00, was referred to the Attorney and <br />Insurance Carrier. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilm-n Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the written recom- <br />mendation of the Manager dated November 12, 1~58, for salary step increases for <br />seven employees, effective December l, 1958, w~s approved. <br /> <br />Chief of Police Allen read a report with reference to the School Safety Patrol <br />Program in operation since May, 1958, stating there are seven schools involved in <br />the program and 153 boys in the patrol with all schools having from 21 to 24 boys <br />in their patrols, and good cooperation has been received from the Parent-Teachers <br />Association groups. On motion of Counc~lm~ ~ll, seconded by Hubbard and carried~ <br />the oral report was accepted and the Clerk directed to write a letter of c~=.-~ndation <br /> <br /> <br />
