<br />Communication was again read from the Planning Commission recommending denial
<br />of Variance Application No. 1095 filed 0y ~'airview Homes to construct multiple-
<br />family units on property consisting of 30 lots, (Nos. 19 to 48 inclusive,
<br />
<br />Tract 3366) situated between ~ingan Lane on the north and Wilshmre avenue on
<br />the south, 15 lots facing west side of Raitt Street and 15 lots facing east
<br />side of Townsend Street, in R-1 Oistrict, in accordance with the Planning
<br />Comm~ssinn's standards, and decrease front yard setbacks from required 60
<br />feet to 50 feet, frcm center l~ne ef street. .ayne Lubke, 1234 South Douglas
<br />Street, requested permission to have the persons opposed to the granting of
<br />the Variance stand, and approximately 50 persons stood, de stated these
<br />multiple-dwellings would create a traffic problem, there is no buffer zo~e,
<br />and the unite wo~ld be entirely surrounded bM homes. R.L. Jacobson,
<br />
<br />1033 S. wood Street, stated he had talked with a number of people as to the
<br />use of the vacant land in t~ area, and it was the ur~lerstanding of all that
<br />it would De built to homes. Jim Mac,lin, 1712 ~. Douglas Street, preferred
<br />the area remain single residences~ Ralph Kaiser, 1134 S. Douglas Street,
<br />stated no hardship existed and the Planning Commission voted against this
<br />Variance. There is a personal gain for Fa~rview Homes, and it is a known fact
<br />than when apartments are constructed in a residential area, the valuation of
<br />the property decreases. The type of apartments to be built has not been
<br />indicated to the satisfaction of tne residents, nor the value thereof. C.W.
<br />Hester, 620 Vance Street, representing Fair~iew Ho~nes, stated he wished to
<br />withdraw the Variance Application, and the request was granted.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the recommen-
<br />dation of the Planning Commission was approved and a ninety-day extension of
<br />time granted on Variance Application No. 1038 filed oy Verlin B. and ~yrtle
<br />
<br />E. Anderson to permit construction of concrete dock (40 feet by 22 feet)to
<br />extend into the rear yard requirements; said dock to be used primarily for
<br />loading and unloading of oxygen, acetlylene and other steel cylinder containers,
<br />
<br />on property situated at ll7 Opurgeon Street, in C-2 District.

<br />of the Planning Commission was approved and a ninety-day extension of time
<br />granted on Variance Application ~o. 1039 filed by the Richland ~venue ~ethodist
<br />Church on property at the northwest corner of Fairview and Center Otreets,
<br />to permit construction of achurch plant..

<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the reccmmenda-
<br />tion of the Plauning Commission was approved, and Variance Application No.
<br />llO1 filed by Dewey Davidson granted to relocate a one-story, one-bedroom
<br />dwelling with single-car garage, as per plot plan, on property situated at
<br />
<br />15972 Golden ~est Avenue, in R-1 District, subject to conditions.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Brewer and carried, the recommendation
<br />of the Planning Commission was approved, and Variance Application No. llO3
<br />filed by ~erle R. Wilson granted to construct a one-story, single-family
<br />dwelling (22 feet by 24 feet in size) on front part of southerl~~ portion
<br />of property ~nich is 80 feet by 135feet in size, on property situated at
<br />
<br />~064 Evergreen Street, in ~-l District, suoject to a condition.
