<br />On motion of ~ouncilma~ HUbbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the recommen-
<br />dation of the Planning Co~aission was approved, and Variance Application No.
<br />ll04 filed by ~dward D and Daisy Nae Talbott granted to construct a single-
<br />family dwelling (1040 squ~e feet in size) with 12-foot oy 20-foot garage, on
<br />rear portion of property situated at 15891 Clara Avenue, in R-1 District, subjec$
<br />to a condition.
<br />
<br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission reccmmending approval of
<br />Variance Application No. ll05 filed by Ea~mond J. and Dorothy Van Beek to use
<br />property situated at 11~22 East Fifth Street, in R-1 District, as a salvage
<br />and auto wrecking yard, and for retail sales of new and used auto parts; to
<br />construct a building of steel frame, covered Oy corrugated iron, and to destroy
<br />existing shed and deteriorating barn-like buildings, the house and garage to
<br />be retained, also to construct a false-front store building of 3200 feet on the
<br />premises~ with a concrete block wall 8 feet high, on front of property, and a
<br />corrugated 8 foot fence around the remainder of the property, subject to con-
<br />ditions. Two petitions with approximately 22 signers and a letter from Cecil
<br />
<br />S. Blinn were presented favoring the g~anting of the variance but objecting to
<br />construction of curbs and pavement, and on motion of Councilman ~ould, seconded
<br />by Hall and carried, the petitions and letter were received and filed. We0b
<br />
<br />Brown, representing the applicant, objected to replacing the sidewalk and
<br /> as,space
<br />curb and providing for 24 off-street parking space~./Tor 12 cars is sufficient
<br />
<br />as the applicant has only 4 employees. The Council having unanimously waived
<br />the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by
<br />Hubbard and carried, the foll~ing Resolution entitled:

<br />side of Sixth Street, between Eastside and Lyon Streets, begir~ing at a point
<br />approximately 125 feet east of Eastside S~reet, ~ith approximately ~2~-foot
<br />frontage on Oixth Street, in R-1 District, in accordance with plot plan
<br />submitted.

<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the reconm~ndation
<br />of the Planning Com~ssion was approved, and Variance Application No. ll08
<br />filed by Orange County ~inance Company granted to use property situated at
<br />ll20 North ~ycamore Street, in R-3 District, for a parking lot for customers
<br />and employees of the ~ange County Finance Company and C. B. KnickerOocker's,
<br />Inc., and also for storage of new and used cars in connection with auto sales
<br />of C. B. Knickerbocker's, Inc.! and to construct a block wall on west, north
<br />and south sides of property, and on either side of entrance and exit locations
<br />cn east side, subject to conditions.
