<br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission reco~ending denial of Variance
<br /> Application No. llST filed by Robert O. Ellison to add to the front of existing
<br /> ccm~mercial structure, in accord-Bce with plot plan, which will reduce the available
<br /> off-street parking space below one-third of the total land area, on property situated
<br /> at 12101 East Bolsa Avenue, in C-2-PK District. Attorney Z.B.West, representing the
<br /> applicant, stated they have pr~santed a plot plan showing the existing building and
<br /> requested permission to add to the front of the present commercial building. Mr.
<br />
<br /> J. M. Roling, 12091 Bolsa Avenue, stated the applicant's customers are parking on
<br /> his property and objected to the granting of the Variance. Ed Larson said if this
<br /> Variance is granted it would set a precedent in the future. Mrs. Jack Craft and
<br />
<br />Mr. Langton were of the opinion the applicant should provide sufficient parking
<br />facilities. Councilman Heinly disqualified himself on this matter. It was moved
<br />by Councilman Hubbard and seconded by Gould, that a Resolution be adopted overruling
<br />the recommendation of the Planning C~ission and the Variance be granted subject to
<br />conditions and to conform to the setback line.

<br />by Councilm-u Gould that the matter be brought back on the Agenda at the next meeting
<br />for further consideration of the Council. ~otion lost for lack of a second. It
<br />was moved by Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, that the hearing be
<br />declared closed on Variance Application No. 1157 and the matter be brought before
<br />the Council for discussion at the meeting set for September 21, 1959.

<br />Cu~aunication was read from the Planning Commnission reconmnending denial of Variance
<br />Application No. 1158 filed by Amy Marie Karr to establish a rest home for six elderly
<br />persons, in existing single-family dwelling, on property situated at 2210 Park Drive,
<br />in R-1 District. E.A. Meredith, 2-130 Park Drive and Leonard Saedeker, 2215 Park
<br />Drive, objected to the granting of the Variance as this area is in the R-1 zone.
<br />
<br />The applicant stated she had the approval of the State Health Department and intends
<br />to conduct a nursing home for only four persons. On motion of Councilman Gould,
<br />seconded by Hubbard and carried, the rec~,,~endation of the Planning Commission was
<br />approved and Variance Application No. 1158 denied.

<br />Communication was read from the Plannlag Commission regarding the change of street
<br />names of certain streets in the ~esterly portion of the City of Santa Ana. The
<br />Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Council-
<br />man Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the following Resolution entitled:

<br /> "Resolution No. 59-918 changing the names of Catalina Street,
<br /> Edna Circle and p~lm Place"
<br />
<br />was considered and passed by the following vote:

<br />Co~amication was read fr~n the Planning Commission reco~mending approval to establish
<br />future right of way lines on both sides of Newhope Street between the proposed Garden
<br />Grove Freeway and Slater Avenue, measured 42 feet from and at right angles to the
<br />survey center line, and on both sides of Smeltzer Avenue between Harbor Boulevard and
<br />Ward Street, measured 52 feet fr~n and at right angles to the survey center line.
