A. <br /> <br />Nominations of <br />members on Planning <br />Commission and Board <br />of Recreation and Parks <br /> <br />Change Order No. ll ~ · <br />Library Building y.. <br /> <br />Request <br />American Field <br />Service <br /> <br />Ordinance No. NS-~95 <br />Fixing Tax Rate <br />1959-60 ($1. 440) <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the request of <br />Santa Ana-Tustin Community Che~t reque~ting permi~sion to place Red Feather flags <br />on the light standards in the downtown area, September 4th through November ~Oth~ <br />for the purpose of hel~ing to publicize the Santa Ana-Tustin Community Chest campaign, <br />was denied on the grounds that it is the policy of the City Council not to approve <br />the use of City standards or facilities for any advertisi~. <br /> <br />Roll Call Ayes, Councilmen <br /> <br /> Nce s, Councilmen <br /> Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />Royal E. Hall <br />None <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman l~ubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the request of <br /> <br />the Young Women's Christian Association to place a banner above Broadway at 1411 <br />North Broadway advertising the All Nations Festival, beginning September 14th through <br />October 5th, was granted subject to the condition 'that notice be given to the Parks <br />and Recreation Department that the b~nner will be removed immediately after the <br />specified dates. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Gould and seconded by Heinly that nominations for <br />appointments on the Planning Gommnission and on the Board of Recreation and Parks, <br />be re-opened. It was moved by Councilman Gould that James G. l~ourke be considered <br />as a member on the Planning Commission. It was mo~ed by Councilman Heinly and <br />seconded by Gould, that the nominations for members on the Planning Commission be <br />closed. It was moved by Councilman Gould and seconded by Heinly that unanimous <br />ballot be cast for James G. Rourke and Thomas N. McMichael to serve as members on <br />the Planning Con~nission. The Council voted on the appo~n~tme~t of members on the <br />Planning Co~nission and James G. Rourke was appointed and Thomas N. McMichael was <br />re-appointed; terms to expire July l, 1963. It was moved by Councilman Gould and <br />seconded by Brewer that nominations be closed for Glen Evans and Jean Gagnebin as <br />members on the Board of Recreation and Parks. It was moved by Councilman Gould and <br />seconded by Hubbard, that unanimous ballot be cast for Jean ~gneb[u as a member on <br />the Board of Recreation and Parks. ~otion withdrawn. Action was continued until <br />the next regular meeting on the appoint~nent of m~mhers on the Board of Recreation <br />and Parks. <br /> <br />On motion of Counci~mau Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Mayor was author- <br />ized to sign Change Order No. ll, dated June 2, 1959, with Gallegos Corporation, <br />amending specifications for the furnishing and laying of carpeting and asphalt tile <br />in the new Library Building. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of <br />~merican Field Service was granted to sell decalcomanias for the benefit of American <br />Field Service International Scholarships at one of the Nigh School football games this <br />fall. <br /> <br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Ordinance, on motion of <br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by GOuld and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance No. NS-B95 of the City of Santa Aha, California, fixing <br /> the amount of money ascertained to carry on the various Departments <br /> of the City of Santa Aha, to pay the bonded indebtedness falling due, <br /> for the current year 1959-1960, fixing the rate of taxation for the <br /> cu~-~nt year 1959-1960, and designating the number of cents on each <br /> $100.00 for the various funds of said City and hereby levied on the <br /> whole of the taxable property of said City" <br /> <br />rate of $1.440, was considered and passed, as an emergency Ordinance, by the follow- <br />ing vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
