On motion of Councilman Gould, sec~onded by Hubbard and carried, the reco~nendat~ on of the Planning Commission was approved, and Variance Application No. 1197, filed by Robert G. Thomas, to erect two units above an exL~ting four-car garage on pro- petty situated at 1334 Eas~ L4th Street, in R-2 District, was granted, subject to conditions. . On motion of Councilman Gould, secmded by Hubbard and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved, and Variance Application No. 1202, filed by Savage Construction Ccmpany, to decrease the required front yard from 60 feet from center line to 50 feet from center line on Tract 2033, on property situated at the southwest corner of Bolsa Avenue and Verano Street in R-1 District~ was granted subject to a condition of the Department of Public Works. ,, On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the recmmmendation of the Planning Commissi on was approved, and Variance Application No. 1198, filed by L. Cordova, to move a single-family dwelling onto this lot with an existing single-family dwelling on property situated at 304 Central Avenue, in R-1 District,? was granted, subject to conditions. ,, C~mmunication was read from the Planning Con~nission recommending denial Of Variance Application No. 1199, filed by John H. and Edna Hammond, to erect a two-story, 16- unit apartment building on property situated at 833 North Baker Street, in R-1 District. CGnmunication was read from B. Edgar Johnson, 910 North Westwood Avenue, protestir~ the erection of a two-story apartment building in a neighborhood of single-family homes, and on motion of CounciLman Brewer, secunded by Gould and carried, the protest wasreceived and filed. Mr. I. W. Barber, 918 North Baker Street, spokesman for a group of protestants, stated if this Variance is granted th values of the properties will decrease, cars will be parked on the street, and this~i is an R-1 District and nice hcm'es are in the area. l~s.
