Attorney Charles J. S,blegel, 803 No. Broadway, representing the applicant, stated there were no objections to the conditions as imposed by the PlAnning Co,~ssion, ,re]ess it prevented the actual size of the building that is desired by his client. The Council having unanimc~asly waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilma~ Gould, sec~ndad by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-291 grauting variance on Application No. 120~ where recommended conditions were changed" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., Dale H. He~-l~y, A. A. Hall Noes, Councilmen Bob Brewer Absent, Councilmen None On motion of Councilm~u Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planniug Commission was approved and Variance Application No. 1205, filed by Osen-OJeda Realty (Do~-ld Osen and Lillian ~Jeda) to convert, to neon, the e~ist- lng real estate sign, which is 30 inches high and flush against the parapet of the real estate office,, on property situated at 1626 East 17th Street~ in R-1 District, was granted, subject to a condition. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by He~nly and carried, the reco~endation of the Planning C~=~lssion was approved and Variance Application No. 1207, filed by Francis W. Herrera, to construct two dwelling units in one building, with two- car garage attached, on property situated on Fourth Street, one lot west of Verauo ~treet, in R-1 District, was granted, subject to conditions. On motion of Cotulcilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the recommendation ,f the Planning Co~mfssi~ was approve~ and Variance Application No. 1208, filed by Felipe O. Garcia, to move a single-family dwelling onto a lot which has one exist- ing single-family dwelling, on property situated at 2~32 South Evergreen Street, in R-1 District, was granted, subject to conditions. Communication was read from the Planning Ccamaission recce~ending approval of Var- iance Applicatian No. 1209, filed by Charles H. Alexander, to use existing building for a machine shop, on property at 3901 East Hazard Avenue, in the R-1 District, for a period of three years and subject to conditions. It was moved by Councilman Hubbard that the Variance be granted subject to conditions. Motion lost for lack of a second. The applicant stated he and his son desire to conduct a small lathe and milling machine shop with a mf-imum of noise. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by He~-ly and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-292 granting variance on Application No. 1209 filed by Charles H. Alexander imposing additional .conditions" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. GoUld, Jr., Dale H. Heinly, A. A. Olsen and Nell Olsen Spivey, to build a one- story rest home, with the appearance of a dwelling, for the occupancy of sixteen elderly people who may, from time to time, require special care, on property situa- ted at the northwest corner of Harvard and Greenville Streets, in R-1 District.
