<br />Attorney Scott J. Raymond, 5080 Clifton Way, Buena Park, representing the applicants,
<br />stated this Variance Applicatio~ is to provide a place for elderly people to reside
<br />in a residential area, and it is the intention to construct a building in complete
<br />accordance with regulations of the Health and Welfare Agencies, and they will comply
<br />with all conditions imposed by the Department of Public Works. Mr. Raymond presented
<br />a petition signed by 67% of the residents located within 300 feet of the proposed
<br />area, and a letter from the Senior Citizens Club, favoring the establishment of the
<br />rest home; also a photograph of the area. On motion of CO1L~ei]man Hubbard, seconded
<br />by Gould and carried, the petition, co~.unicetion and photograph were received end
<br />filed. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the recom-
<br />mendation of the Planning Commission was approved and Variance Application No.1206
<br />denied. Glenn B. Coate, Realtor, 516 South Main Street, requested information as
<br />to whether a Variance had ever been granted for a rest home in an R'i zone, end his
<br />question was answered by the Manager. It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded
<br />by Brewer and carried,that the Manager instruct the Plannin~ Department to attempt
<br />to locate at least five suitable locations for a home for elderly people and so
<br />advise the Senior Citizens of Santa Aha. It was moved by Councilm-- Heinly that the
<br />matter of the Variance Application be placed back o~ the calendar for further consid-
<br />eration and study. Motion lost for lack of a second

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, ninety-~ay extonsions
<br />of time were granted, as re~en~ed by the Pl~-~ug.C~mm~esion, on:

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the following Resolution en-

<br />Attorney was read in regard to the splitting of a parcel to produce two lots of sub-
<br />stan~a_~i width; and split of parcels to leave lots of substandard size, and on mo-
<br />tion of Counci]~a~ Hubbard and seconded by Gould, Opinion No. 221 was received and
