<br />It was moved by Counci]m-n Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, that the reque~ ~
<br />
<br />of the Principal of Diamond Elementary School, advising of a bicycle accident along
<br />
<br />the northside of Edinger Street, between Raitt and Center Streets, and requesting
<br />
<br />additional sidewalks, or a foot-bridge to span the flood control ditch at Wilshire
<br />
<br />Avenue and Raitt Street, making it pcs sible for children to go to school without
<br />
<br />using Edinger Street, be referred to the Administrative Staff to follow through
<br />with recommendation, if necessary. Franklin Ward, 1431 Spruce Street, advised he
<br />
<br />had signatures of 178 residents in the area and requested that action be taken to
<br />
<br />correct the condition.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the Purchasing
<br />
<br />Agent was authorized to advertise for bids on the following:
<br />
<br /> 1. (a) 1 Truck Chassis & Cab 43000 G.V.W.; (b) 1 Truck Chassis & Cab 16000
<br />G.V.W.; (c) 2 Trucks Stake-bed 9800 G.V.W.; (d) 1 Truck Chassis & Cab 15OO0 G.V.W.;
<br />(e) 2 Truck Chassis & Cabs 19000 G.V.W.; Specification 621-22. 2. (a) 1Dump Body
<br />and Hoist, 2 Special Utility Rodies; Specification 621-23; bids to be opened
<br />April ~, 1960, and

<br /> (~) 223 Gate Valves, in various sizes, Specification 664-6; (b) 50 Fire Hy-
<br />drants, Specification 633-6; (c) 55000 ft. Cement-lined Cast Iron Water Pipe,

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br />
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids for the widening of First Street, between Town-
<br />
<br />send Street and the Santa Ana River, Project No. 110; and for the improvement of
<br />
<br />Fairview Street, between First Street and Fifth Street~ Project No. ll3; bids to be
<br />
<br />opened April 4, 1960.

<br />The Council having unanimous],v waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />
<br />Council,mn Nmbbard, seconded by Hein/y and carried, the following Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br />"Resolution No. 60-43 allocating the sum of $7500.00 for the p~ose
<br /> expressed in Article II of the Master Agreement with the State of
<br /> California Division of Highways"
<br />
<br />for engineering costs for the fiscal year 1960-61, said sum to be budgeted for work
<br />
<br />to be done by the City of Santa Aha engineering staff in the Department of Public
<br />
<br />Works, was considered and passed by the following vote:
<br />

<br /> allocated under Section 2107.5 of the Streets and Highways Code"
<br /> for expenditure of the engineering allocation in the City of Santa Aha, was con-

<br />/_El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, was granted to raise funds for the Navy Relief

<br />Society, at the Fifth .~nual E] Toro Rodeo, June 18 and 19, 1960, at the U. $. Marine
<br />
<br />Corps Air Station, and the Mayor to proclaim the week of June !2 to 18, 1960 as
<br />
<br />"El Toro RodecWeek.' " ,
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the resignation of
<br />
<br />Robert J. MacFarlane, as a member of the Planning Commission, was accepted with
<br />
<br />regret and the Clerk directed to send a letter to him expressing appreciation for
<br />
<br />his services on the Commission.
