Hall <br />Noes, Cotmcilmen None <br />Absent, CounciLmen None <br /> <br />Ccemaunication was presented from the Planning Comission recommending denial of <br />Variance Application No. 1314, filed by Francis Shoen, to move a two-story, four- <br />unit apartment house onto property at the northwest corner of Myrtle and Franklin <br />Streets, in the R-1 District. The applicant requested reconsideration of the <br />Variance Application and presented pictures of the building and area. Councilman <br />Brewer questioned the single-family residence shown in the pictures, and the appli- <br />cant stated there were larger, older dwellings in the Immediate vicinity. The <br />Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of <br />Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution en- <br />titled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 60-105 granting Variance Application No. 131~ <br /> filed by Francis Shoen where Planning Commission recommended <br /> denial" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Hall <br />Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br />Commmmication was presented from the Planning Com~ission recommending denial of <br />Variance Application No. 1321, filed by Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wesley Smith, to expand <br />professional office, build additional driveway entrance, and utilize the front <br />portion of lot for parking, on property at ll~q-ll~ E. Berkeley Street, in the <br /> <br />R-2 District. Dr. P. E. Staum stated he occupies an office at 114 E. Berkeley <br /> <br />Street and objected to the requirement of two more parking spaces in addition to <br />the present three, for his chiropractic practice, as he seldom has more than three <br />patients at one time; also the entire rear area has been paved. On motion of <br />Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the matter was continued until <br />the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Communication was presented from the Planning Commission recommending denial of <br />Variance Application No. 1325, filed by Oran D. and Irene R.Murray, to build a <br />duplex and two-car garage in addition to an existing duplex and two-car garage on <br />the lot, on property a t 14 0 3 Cypress Avenue, in the R-1 District. Farnum D. <br /> <br />Tar, 329 E. 17th Street, representing the applicant, requested reconsideration of <br />the Variance Application, as the area is well situated for additional property and <br />has street al~proaches from Cypress and Orange. On motion of Councilman Heinly, <br />seconded by Nubbard and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was <br />approved and Variance Application No. 1325 denied. <br /> <br />Communication was again presented from the Planning Commission recommending denial <br />of Variance Application No. 1291, filed by Alfred Carney and David E. Ascher, to <br />convert the front apartment to an office for The Burton Detective Agency, on property <br />at 713 Spurgeon Street, in the R-3 District. The applicant presented pictures of <br />the parking area and building, and stated there are at least eight spaces for park- <br />lng that are movable, with two cars remaining all day, and his type of service <br /> <br /> <br />
